By harnessing the power of the cloud, HP Labs India has just revolutionized Internet access for some 300 million mobile phone users. It's called SiteonMobile, and as the name suggests, it's all about compressing the Web experience into simple SMS- and voice-driven interaction.
It works by 'packaging' popular interaction on websites into 'tasklets' that can be executed via SMS or interactive ...

Over at TechCrunch, Mike Arrington is hoping Google changes its mind about releasing the Google Voice desktop app they've been dogfooding for some time. The program likely began taking shape after Google acquired VOIP software company Gizmo5 last year. Things looked even better following Google's acquisition of Global IP Solutions -- a company which specializes in media-over-IP technology.

Sure, this is an expected development seeing as Google has been snapping up VoIP companies and expanding Google Voice, but it's still awesome news. Alex Chitu of Google OS has reported that they're in the process of testing full-on Voice integration in Gmail.
When I noticed the UI tweaks in Gmail chat yesterday, I suspected something was up. Right now, it's mostly cosmetic. Soon enough, ...

Google's turn-by-turn GPS navigation software for smartphones has today been enabled in western, continental Europe... and Canada!
If you've not used it before, Google Maps Navigation, despite carrying Google's omnipresent 'Beta' tag,' is as good as GPS navigation gets. It might not be quite as refined as commercial, big-bucks navigation systems, but the sheer number of awesome features easily ...

Got an .edu email address? Wish you had access to Google Voice?
Well, you're in luck. Google has just announced that they're making "priority invites" available to students -- as long as they're in the U.S... not that you'd know it from the landing page, though: it's not mentioned anywhere. The official announcement does spell it out, of course, but that's the kind of thing you might want to ...

vDraw (or voicedraw) is a Flash-based toy that uses your microphone to let you draw images. Supposedly, when you make a low-volume sound, the line turns counterclockwise. A medium-volume voice (or absolute silence, in my case) will draw a straight line, and a high-volume sound will turn the line clockwise.
Seeing as how my singing voice is not exactly my best feature, I was unable to ...

Never, in the entirety of history, has there been so much gaming to be done. You can hardly finish a game without the Next Great Game appearing in your mailbox or on your hard disk -- because you pre-ordered it on Amazon or Steam, of course.
Believe it or not, we actually have too many good games at the moment. Until recently, gamers could dedicate themselves to a single stand-out game -- ...

If you can't stand to hear another word from the obnoxious voice that delivers turn-by-turn directions on your GPS device, you may have a way out. If you've got a Garmin GPS, you can use the new Garmin Voice Studio to replace the device's recorded phrases - "recalculating!" - with recordings of your own. Personally, I can't stand the sound of my own voice any more than I can handle the smug, ...

Google Mobile's iPhone app just got a small, but important, update, full of new features. Most iPhone users don't venture over to the app side of Google search, since the search bar is right there in Safari, but Google Mobile is actually pretty neat. Plus, the latest update allows you to open links in-app, instead of switching to Safari to view webpages. That one little tweak is enough to make ...

Don your tin foil hats, ladies and gentlemen. Take the following news with a pinch of salt and admire their noble privacy policy. Now brace yourself: Google, with the benevolent and seemingly-altruistic intent of speeding up the Internet, have just launched a public DNS service.
What is DNS? Computers on the Internet don't actually have names -- they have numerical IP addresses. DNS maps names ...

3jam offers a bundle of phone-related services, all connected to a virtual number. It's like Google Voice, but it does a few neat tricks that Google Voice doesn't. Incoming calls can ring simultaneously on your phone, IM or Skype. If you don't use your landline, you can even port that number to 3jam. 3jam also handles text messages, visual voicemail (with transcription), and SMS-to-Email ...

Android users can now search Google Maps using voice commands, and access Google Transit info from their mobile devices. To use the voice seach, just speak an address or a search term while you're using Google Maps for Android. Google says it currently understands American, Australian and British accents. They've also added store hours, prices, ratings and reviews to their results. Google Maps ...

Yahoo! has just released Yahoo! Messenger Beta 3 for the Mac, with the long-awaited, much-crowed for addition of voice calling. With the latest version of Messenger for the Mac, users can make free PC-to-PC calls (yes, a Mac is a PC too) to other Messenger buddies. You can also sign up for a Phone Out account to make calls to landlines and mobile phones. Or, if you want to go all the way, you can ...

Jott is a voice based online tool that we covered earlier this year. The basic premise is that you call a specified phone number, speak a message, and have it's transcribed and sent as text to your account on a service like Twitter, a Wordpress blog, a Tumblr blog, or even to Yahoo Groups. Now Jott officially supports Google Calendar. Users will now have the ability to speak into the system, ...

NetZero, the one-time free ISP, which, in recent years has elevated itself to a discount dial-up provider, added voice service to its offering a few years go. This enabled its customers to make and receive phone calls over VoIP in much the same way Vonage and Packet8 provide such service. Apparently, as Vonage discovered, it's not as easy as it looks on paper to make money competing with the ...
