Tech favorite WinPatrol -- a great tool for keeping an eye on system processes and files -- has been updated to 20.0.2011. Support for 64-bit Windows installations has been improved, and WinPatrol is generally more responsive now than in previous versions. WinPatrol's "move to delayed start" option provides a nice way to improve your system's startup time, and it has also been tweaked for better ...

If you use Remember the Milk to manage your to-do list on the web, but you want to see all your tasks in iCal on your Mac when you get home, TaskSync has got a solution for you. This free OS X app provides two-way syncing between Remember the Milk and iCal, so any changes you make to one task list will soon show up in the other. You can even use the @ symbol in iCal to create a tag that will show ...

wunderlist is a minimalistic, pretty to-do list manager. Here's a quick rundown of what it can and can't do:
Pros:
Looks: It looks quite pretty. You can change the background, and it's generally just lovely.
Simplicity: That can also be considered a bad thing, I guess, but wunderlist is very simple. There are no nested tasks, for example.
Multiple lists: You can easily create extra lists ...

pleasnotify.me is a fairly straightforward Web app: You fill in a quick form with the recipient's address, a task, a due date, and your address.
The email is sent out, and the recipient is supposed to reply by the time the task is done. On the surface, all is well and fine. I mean, it's not the most original application in the history of the universe, but it's okay.
But when you stop and think ...

Google seems to be aiming at making Tasks into a ubiquitous tasklist, available anywhere and easy to use. This is one of the few niches where a non-Google tool has the upper hand – in this case, Remember the Milk is the leader of the pack, at least for now.
Google's engineers know what they have to do to make Tasks into a smash hit: give users what they want!
To make that happen, they've ...

When I marveled at Daily Todo, reader ViaTorci recommended TaskForce, a similarly minimalistic application for managing a single day's workload.
This is one of the coolest recommendations that I've received via a comment. You don't need an account; you just enter your name, and then enter a task along with an estimated duration. A timer starts counting down, and then you go and do the task. Your ...

If you're already using iCal's built-in todo management, or Outlook's tasks on a Windows machine, and you're just looking for an iPhone app that can synchronize with what you're already using, you should check out 2Do.
2Do is a very well-designed and pretty to-do list manager, with the ability to create multiple lists, set priorities and due dates, notes, URLs, and even default actions such as ...

Like to keep tabs on where your system resources are going in Windows? If you're running Vista or Windows 7, take a look at Auslogics' FileInspect sidebar gadget.
It's a handy way to see how much of your RAM or CPU is being used by the programs you have running. The gadget can display 1, 3, 5, or 10 items at a time and you can also tweak the update interval. You'll likely have more than 10 ...

Four years after the service opened to the public, popular web-based task manager Remember The Milk is finally out of beta. What does that mean? Nothing really.
The company isn't going to start charging for access to its core services. And the developers aren't done adding and refining features. It's just that after four years, the Remember The Milk team decided the product was probably robust ...

Remember The Milk have released their new client for Android devices in the Android Market.
Available as a free download, the client does require the user to have a 'Pro' account, which is priced at $25 per year. This puts the official client at odds with the popular (and excellent) third party solution Astrid, which can be used with free accounts.
The official application does bring a ...

There are plenty of good reasons to keep a good Task Manager alternative on your flash drive -- like when some nasty malware has disabled access to Windows' native one. We've mentioned some options before on DownloadSquad, and now there's a new one to add to the mix. Auslogics has just released a free, fully portable app that will only take up a scant 1.7Mb of space on your drive. ATM ...

Because I work almost exclusively in remote-based teams, I'm always looking for new tools and services that can help me manage my daily tasks and effectively collaborate with my team members. One of the biggest problems I have with some collaboration systems is that they require everyone to login and collaborate using the web app itself. This is great if you are always in one place or in a ...

Google is fleshing out its personal information management offerings. First, the company announce that Gmail Tasks has graduated from Gmail labs and is now available to every Gmail user whether they want the feature or not. And now Google has also added an experimental "labs" feature to Google Calendar. At launch, there are just 6 experimental features for Google Calendar users. You can:

Over the past few months, storage and collaboration service Box.net has really ramped up its focus on adding tools and services that can help small and large businesses be more productive. With full-text search, enhanced collaboration tools, and a web-based document creation, the service is a really slick way for a business or group of collaborators to work together, regardless of physical ...

Task.fm is a simple web-based task and reminder app. Its aim: allowing you to type your entries in natural language, just like you were speaking them to another person. Email reminders for tasks you create are totally free, while SMS and voice alerts will cost 1 credit. Credits are reasonably priced: two dollars gets you 20, while 100 is only $8. That's not bad for a hotel-style courtesy call. ...
