When Yahoo announced it was ready to wash its hands of Delicious, panicked users began looking for alternative places to send their cloud bookmarks. Delicious, however, responded quickly and said there was nothing to worry about -- the service was still being maintained and your bookmarks didn't need to be rescued from a burning building.
Never ones to miss an opportunity, Google has finally ...

Microsoft Outlook lets you export your notes, but your file type choices are pretty limited. The same can be said for Evernote's import feature, which only handles its own export files or Microsoft OneNote 2007 or newer. Thankfully, a gent named Richard was kind enough to point us toward a script he created to make moving notes from Outlook to Evernote as easy as possible.
Download his ...

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has a new feature that digital artists have been demanding for years: it's called the HUD Color Picker and I'm sure it's making Photoshoppers dizzy with excitement. That is if they even know it exists -- you see, the HUD (heads-up display) is buried under a truly atrocious shortcut: Shift+Alt+Right Click. Still, if you have Photoshop CS5, try it -- you can see it in the ...

Rejoice! No longer must you hack and slash at your preferences folder to backup or share your workspace -- there's a script to do it for you! Simply grab the script, unzip it, then Files>Scripts>Browse in Photoshop.
The ingenious engineers at Adobe are obviously hard at work on CS6, and this script is likely an early example of what we can expect in the next iteration of the Creative ...

Wow, that didn't take long! Chatroulette, the trendy new random webcam chat service started by a Russian teenager, is so popular that a company is now selling "start your own Chatroulette clone" scripts. If you've got $100, CamChat will hook you up with your own private Chatroulette, with extra charges to remove branding and get professional installation.
I guess I can see why people want to ...

If you ever find yourself doing repetitive task on your computer, pay attention. Sikuli is an important step toward removing the barrier between the average computer user and programming.
Normally, to make a computer do a repetitive task, you'd need to understand a programming language like Java, Objective C or C#. To perform some remedial task like starting iTunes and kicking off a play ...

About a week ago I posted about an AppleScript that you can use to create a new text file in the Finder folder that you are looking at. I was a little bit surprised by the reaction; some people thought it was a great idea, while others thought it ridiculous and couldn't imagine why anyone would ever want to do that.
Well, if you fall into the latter camp, you might as well skip the rest of this ...

Are you one of the many, many people who seem to be up in arms about Twitter's implementation of retweets? A neat little Greasemonkey script called Retweet Avatars might go a long way toward making you feel better about the new system. Instead of showing the original poster's icon, it shows your retweeting friend's icon, with a much smaller inset for the original tweeter.
This two-icon system ...

Google Docs Viewer can display Powerpoint presentations, PDFs and TIFF images right in your browser, without adding extensions or downloading the files. The problem is that you have to manually open the Doc Viewer by pasting in a URL. There's a way around that, though, thanks to a slick userscript with an unwieldy name: "PDF/PPT/TIF viewer with Google docs."
With the script installed - ...

Twitter is a lot of things to a lot of people, but "pretty" isn't really the first one that comes to mind. It doesn't have to be that way, though, because you can give Twitter a clean, minimal new look with Helvetwitter. It's a script that lets you view the Twitter website in black and red, with all the type in Helvetica, and plenty of white space for all the words to breathe. This may sound ...

YouTube Auto Buffer is a userscript that fixes a lot of the things that annoy me most about YouTube. It's a beefed up version of the barebones one Lee wrote about last December. Instead of autoplaying a couple seconds of video and having to stop and start because nothing's buffered, this script turns autoplay off and clips fully buffer before playing. I don't know about you, but I was doing ...

While Greasemonkey, the popular extension for changing the way websites display, might not be currently available via the Firefox 3 addons manager or the Mozilla addons website, you can indeed install a working version from the developer's site. We installed the greasemonkey-0.8.20080609.0.xpi into Firefox 3 RC2 on Mac OS 10.5, and our scripts worked like a charm. In case you're new to the ...

As the Writer's Strike continues into the end of January with no real end in sight, most people are running out of quality TV programs to watch. Heck, we're even running out of quality-less programs to watch. Unless you are a fan of reality shows such as Gladiator, there isn't much coming ...

You have probably noticed this yourself: when you do a search on Google there tends to be a lot of unfilled, unused, or otherwise blank area to the right of the search results that could be used for better things. Things besides ads that might relate to your search. Such as Wikipedia summaries for your search term, or related images and videos, and dictionary definitions. That would be nice, ...

Earlier today we showed you how to enable a preview for TinyUrls by using the 'Enable preview' feature from the TinyUrl website - allowing you to forgo the leap of faith these little links would usually require of you. Wish there was a more elegant approach to the problem? Well, for Firefox users (and other browsers for which Greasemonkey is available) this has been solved, thanks to a ...
