Canon to launch system that blocks banned words from being printed, scanned or faxed
The upcoming version of Canon's document management system, Uniflow 5, will have a keyword-based security system. A user will not be able print, scan, copy or fax any document that contains a banned word.
Uniflow (or 'uniFLOW'), which is only available on very high-end (and expensive) Canon products, is a management suite used by large businesses -- such as law firms -- that need to keep track ...
Scanner lets you visualize disk space usage using a futuristic-looking, color-coded pie chart. Having tested it, I must say it does not come close in usefulness (or even visual appeal, but that's subjective) to WinDirStat, which is my go-to for this type of thing.
Pros:
Once scanning is done, navigation is very snappy.
It looks nice!
Easily remove unwanted files using the context menu ...

Square, the startup behind a potentially game-changing mobile add-on that turns your phone into a portable credit card payment system, is best known thus far for the involvement of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. It just became a really good idea to take your Google Android device shopping with you. Android now packs a barcode scanning feature that plugs into Google's Mobile Product Search database, so you can compare prices on items you find and see if it might be cheaper to buy online. The scanner currently works best with media like books and dvds, or with electronics, but more products are being added ...

Well, if you've got a printer and a scanner hooked up to you computer, you probably know that it's not that hard to use your PC as a copy machine. Just scan an image with the one and print it with the other. The problem is that you might wind up having to use two or three separate programs to do the scanning and ...
I was pondering the other day about how I had no way to pre-check links to see if they were malicious, then I saw LinkScanner. Alright, I wasn't thinking that, but it is a nice story. I realize it is a bit impractical to use LinkScanner to check every link you click on, in fact it is downright impossible and dumb. There are no guarantees that LinkScanner will save you from malware anyway, but it ...

What happens in the story is the boy falls in love with the scanner, pledges it all his paper and digital bliss for as long as the scanners warranty is good. So he takes the scanner home, carries it over the threshold, and plugs it into the wall and into the back of his ...
