Well, that took long enough -- Google Reader finally allows folder renaming
Don't get me wrong -- I enjoy using Google Reader. But the fact that I couldn't rename folders has been a pain in my butt for years. Sure, you could work around it by creating a new folder, moving all your feeds in, then deleting the old folder, but that's a pretty archaic (and downright silly) way to have to do things.
Fortunately, a 20% project from Google has resulted in my prayers being ...
One thing I've found with a number of the malware infections that come across my workbench is that they do their best to make it difficult to run cleanup tools like MalwareBytes and SmitFraudFix.
In typical malware author fashion, however, their application-blocking abilities are lazily programmed and pretty easy to sidestep. Here's what I do when an infection won't let me run my favorite ...
A lot of digital cameras are great for taking photos, but pretty shoddy for naming files. Sure, it's alright to have them listed by date and time -- at least that keeps them in order -- but we think it's a lot nicer to rename a batch of photos so you remember what they're actually of. That's where NameChanger comes in. It's a lightweight renaming app for OS X, with a focus on images. ...
While Windows lets you rename multiple files at once by selecting a group of documents with your mouse and clicking rename, you don't have a lot of control over the process. What if you want each file to keep its original name, but you want to add a prefix. Or what if you want to change all of the characters from upper case to lower case? Windows doesn't give you that option, but the free ...
Haven't gotten around to using Automator for all of your mundane, joyless, repetitive tasks? Need to rename a large number of files with a large amount of hurry? BatchRename'em is the Mac utility for you. As much as we cringe when an application uses "'em" in its name, BatchRename'em makes up for it with its simple effect. The application allows you to batch rename files and folders in a number ...
Here's a nice trick I didn't know about until today, courtesy of Lifehacker: Windows has the built-in ability to rename whole batches files at once. Just highlight all of the files and press F2 (or right-click on them and choose Rename), and type in the new name. I suspect that the reason I never figured this one out is that when you press F2, your highlighted selection goes away, but rest ...
Should we really trust a guy named Jackass JoeJoe? Well I did, and was amply rewarded. Anyone working with digital media assets for one reason or another winds up with gaggles of files. Renaming those, or changing anything en masse is a total chore. Thus, we have a slew of renaming utilities out there. I tried Rename Master, which is totally free (Windows only), and loved it.
Version 2.5 was just ...
