Bundles seem to be all the rage these days, with many different companies offering deep discounts on bundled software. AppSumo's latest Mac OS X bundle aptly named 'Supercharge OS X' does just that, with four small applications that combine to speed up daily usage of a Mac. ...

Mac OS X 10.6.6 has been made available for download, and it should be waiting for you right now in Software Update. Once you install 10.6.6, the Mac App Store, in all its glory, will reveal itself to you. Apple's launching the Mac App Store with over 1,000 apps today, but we expect to see this grow over the next few months as developers sign on.
Unfortunately, downloading the 148MB update is ...

Apple has just published a press release that confirms a January 6 opening of the Mac App Store. It will be available in 90 countries, and feature free and paid apps. Mac OS X Snow Leopard (time to upgrade from 10.5!) users will need a free download via Software Update before they can use the App Store.
The Mac App Store, if it isn't obvious, aims to revolutionize the distribution of PC ...

It's no secret that Notational Velocity is my favorite Mac note-taking application. It synchronizes with the SimpleNote online service, which means you can access your notes on your Mac, iPhone, online, and, if you store your notes in a folder that is in your Dropbox account, on a plethora of iOS plain text editing applications. It's made for speed, letting you find what you need instantly, make ...

Apple has informed developers that its upcoming Mac App Store (which may or may not be launching in a few days) will not support two of the major iOS App Store features: the Game Center and in-app purchases. This in spite of the fact that the whole purpose of the Mac App Store is supposed to be bringing what Apple has done on the mobile front 'back to the Mac'.
In-app purchases come in handy ...

Back in October, when Apple officially announced the Mac App Store, the only thing we've heard about an actual release date was "in 90 days". But today a source has told Appletell that the official opening of the Mac App Store will take place on December 13, exactly one week from now and much sooner than Apple has led everyone to believe. Apparently, Steve Jobs is personally pushing for a release ...

Bad news for Mac users -- a cross-platform Trojan that can infect the OS is currently being tracked, masquerading as a video. Boonana, official designation 'trojan.osx.boonana.a,' or 'OSX/Koobface.A' depending on who you want to go with, is being spread across Facebook and other social networks with the old 'Is this you in this video?' ploy. Appearing on people's Facebook pages, the link launches ...

Yesterday's session of the MAX 2010 conference saw the announcement of the latest iteration to AIR, Adobe's desktop runtime for HTML, Ajax, Flex, and (of course) Flash. AIR 2.5 brings greater device support with it, covering smartphones and tablets running BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android and iOS; Windows, OS X and Linux on the desktop; and TVs, with Samsung the first to jump on-board the AIR ...

Itching to take Google's new, JPEG beating image format for a test drive? Got a Mac? Then Nick Zitzmann's Weppy might just be the answer.
A simple drag and drop and you're up and running with WebP support in Safari, Firefox, Chrome, OmniWeb, Opera, Camino and others. Weppy comes in two versions, one for WebKit-based browsers and one for browsers supporting Netscape plug-ins such as Chrome, ...

Microsoft, no doubt buoyed by its massive, continued success of Windows 7 and with a coquettish grin at the dwindling share of Mac OS X, has launched a new PC versus Mac website.
The site, as you can probably guess, details all of the ways that Windows out-strips Mac OS X. But, to be fair, the site's primary purpose is to advertise the features of Windows 7 -- first it compares and contrasts ...

There's something about the idea of multiple screens surrounding me with green Matrix glyphs running down them that really appeals to me. When I'm sitting at work, I've got three screens in front of me -- one for my Windows PC, and two for my Mac laptop that is my primary machine.
When I'm not using them, I use Matrix screensavers to create the Matrix effect, but if you ask me, that's not really ...

One of the major draws of Chrome is that it runs in a sandbox, making it one of the most secure ways you can browse the Web today. The catch is that people have to use Chrome to gain that extra measure of security, and let's face facts here -- Chrome and Chromium only hold a fraction of the market share that Firefox has earned over the years.
Thankfully, Firefox users on OS X now have the ...

Valve's Steam Hardware Survey for May 2010 is in! And it's interesting. The site itself seems to be broken -- check out the '0%' May 2010 figures at the bottom -- but fortunately someone on the Steam forums took some screenshots. Here are the Windows numbers -- and the Mac numbers.
The first thing that jumps out is the average amount of RAM: a lot of Windows Steam users are still stuck with ...

In true, Valve style -- only a month late! -- Steam and Valve's first-party games will be coming to Mac on May 12th. I'm not sure which games will actually be available at launch, but I'm guessing we'll see Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2 at least -- if we see Left 4 Dead, I may actually sell a kidney and buy a Mac.
Valve aren't simply bringing their games to Mac, though. They're also ...

Dubbed 'Gala', a new beta version of Flash for Mac OS X is now available. Adobe is quick to point out that it's aimed at developers, to make sure the player is compatible with content all over the Web, but there's no reason you can't jump in and test it yourself!
The hardware acceleration should work with all Mac computers that sport a recent NVIDIA graphics card (9400M, 320M and 330M). Also, ...
