Windows 8 images continue to leak onto the Internet, despite Microsoft's wallpaper-based pleas to those with access to the early releases. Today's installment courtesy CNBeta shows the upcoming Windows App Store, which will likely feature prominently in Windows 8.
We've got our doubts about the authenticity of the image. In addition to showing several of the built-in games which already ship ...

Rafael Rivera and Paul Thurrott have posted a second look at some of the early changes which have surface in Windows 8 milestone 3. First there was the restyled Welcome Screen, and now it appears that Microsoft is toying with bringing the Ribbon UI to Explorer.
The Ribbon, like in Microsoft Word and Excel, is context-aware, adding tabs for specific tasks which apply to the folder you're ...

It's not really a secret the Microsoft had planned on bringing bits of Windows Phone 7's Metro UI to Windows 8, but we haven't seen a lot of really telling evidence. However, with the Windows 8 milestone 3 build now available to Microsoft Connect partners, it was really just a matter of time before we started to get a peek.
Thanks to Rafael Rivera and Paul Thurrott, we've now had a glimpse ...

With Windows 8 milestone 3 now up for grabs for select Microsoft Connect partners, it's inevitable that leaked bits and pieces will start popping up around the Web. In fact, the first "official" wallpaper image from the still-brewing OS is already making the rounds.
As you can see, it's got a similar feel to the good ol' Windows 7 default background, but features a more subdued smattering of ...

Android users continue to wait patiently for two key video apps: Netflix and Hulu. Just recently, we found a change on the Hulu site which indicates an app might be coming soon -- and now the Netflix Android app has been leaked.
Unfortunately, the pre-release app doesn't really function the way you'd like a Netflix app to function. While you will be able to log in, view your Watch Instantly ...

A while back, Yahoo! was pegged as the culprit behind some users' mysterious mobile data consumption. The problem, of course, was with Yahoo's IMAP support. While there was initially some deflection going on, Yahoo! has now stepped up and delivered a fix which stems the tide of those nefarious and wanton packets.
As reported at Within Windows, Yahoo! updated its IMAP servers and mail is now ...

Tangible Windows 8 details are beginning to emerge with some screenshots of the OS making the rounds on the Internet. Not much is revealed, but we do get a glimpse at a couple interesting changes.
For starters, taskbar progress indicator support has been expanded to other built-in Windows functions, like hardware installation. Windows Live integration is evolving, too -- you'll be able to ...

BlackBerry Messenger 6.0 has been leaked and is now available for download. If you simply can't wait for BlackBerry Messenger 6 and you're running a BlackBerry OS 6 device, then you don't have to. Simply delete your current installation of BlackBerry Messenger, download BBM 6.0 from here, and install. There is one small caveat however, and that's the need for a BlackBerry Beta Zone BBM key, which ...

Motorola's new Connected Music Player isn't the first leaked audio app we've seen -- but it's certainly got a leg up on the one we saw from Google. CMP goes way beyond shuffling through your music and video library, building in a ton of (predictably enough) connected features.
Let's start with the radio. CMP includes both SHOUTcast integration and the ability to tap into your phone's FM radio ...

The most recent build of IE9 -- beta 2 -- leaked onto the Web late last night. Judging by the version number and its performance, it looks like it features the same rendering and JavaScript engines found in Platform Preview 7.
As reported by WinRumors, there doesn't seem to be any significant change to the user interface. The download manager shows your current download speed without the need ...

Facebook has suspended several popular apps, including Familybuilder's Family Tree app and nearly all apps by LOLapps Media (of Gift Creator and Quiz Creator fame). The suspended apps were found to be leaking Facebook ID numbers to a third-party advertising company called Rapleaf, which could use the Facebook IDs to put names and faces to the anonymous consumer data that it collects. Giving any ...

Now that the Palm NDA has been violated, it looks as though details surrounding webOS 2.0 are going to start leaking at a rapid pace. The folks at Chinese site Wibozi.com certainly think it's fair game at this point, and today they've shared a veritable treasure trove of images captured from the upcoming release.
A number of interesting changes are pictured, such as:
VPN support
broader ...

This time the leaked Internet Explorer 9 image we're looking at is a bit more trustworthy than the mock-up we received back on April 1st. As Mary Jo Foley reports, the image above was posted by Microsoft's Russian PR site, though the post has since been pulled from the server and now returns a 404 error.
If this is the new interface, it's certainly been simplified from the IE8 incarnation. A ...

There's only four weeks to go until the next IE9 developer preview, and it looks like Chinese leak site Cnbeta might have got its hands on the new build already.
I'm not quite sure what to make of the screenshots, nor the Google translation. The Developer Previews (Internet Explorer Test Drive) are not meant to have a user interface -- they're just there to show off the Trident rendering ...

First, as always: this isn't confirmed by Microsoft. Still, enough tech blogs have picked it up, so I'm probably safe enough to run it.
With that out of the way: OMG! Windows 8 details! Juicy, thigh-wetting details! For now we only have two slides with atrocious grammar (are these really legitimate?), but the source says he'll have more information soon. The first slide is above and the second ...
