If you're an Angry Birds fan and own and Android device, here's some news you'll want to file away for safe keeping. The upcoming sequel Angry Birds Rio won't be available from the Android Market. Rather, you'll have to download it from the Amazon Appstore.
That's a pretty major win for Amazon, considering how successful the Angry Birds franchise has been. If you're looking for a sure-fire ...

As Spotify -- the popular online music service -- nears profitability in Europe, the situation isn't quite as rosy across the pond. With Spotify's hopes of a 2010 U.S. launch officially dashed, the company is still facing an uphill climb in the States. The sticking point, according to sources cited by The Telegraph, may be financial demands from the U.S. record labels. Concerned that users will ...

Last month, it looked like Google Chrome OS was still on track for a Q4 2010 release -- as originally promised by Google when it announced the project. Back in June, VP of Product Management Sundar Pichai told Reuters that it was going to arrive earlier than expected. That didn't happen.
Later, our cohorts at TechCrunch got wind of a potential release this week -- but a comment by Eric Schmidt ...

Our special cousins over at Engadget have the scoop: Windows Phone 7 will be unveiled in the US on October 11th, and T-Mobile is the carrier of choice.
We don't have much else to go on, other than the announcement will be in New York City at 3:30PM. There's also a raffle at the end of the event.
The only real news is that we'll soon start to see lots of Windows Phone 7 reviews here on ...

Firefox 4 shutdown is already almost instant, but Mozilla has had their sights set on faster start-up times for quite a while. Over the summer, a pair of Mozilla interns looked at simple tweaks which would make Firefox appear faster. It now looks as if at least one of the suggested changes will make its way in to Firefox 4.
Thanks to what Mozilla is calling Cascaded Session Restore, the ...

![Live from the Internet Explorer 9 beta launch]()
We've gathered here, in San Francisco at the Concourse Exhibition Center, to witness what Microsoft has in store for Internet Explorer 9. Below you can find live coverage of the keynote itself, and anything else that catches my eye. Once the keynote has finished, I will try to update the top of this post with finalized details of the IE9 beta.
Feel free to take part in the conversation, by the ...

The title pretty much says it all on this one, folks.
Yes, our source tells us that Google is building a Chrome OS tablet. It's real, and it's being built by HTC. No surprise there, since HTC churned out the Nexus One for Google.
Yes, they plan to offer it in conjunction ...

Design is an amazing thing; I mean, take a checklist. In itself, a checklist is nothing special. It's just a bunch of items which you can mark as done. You can make a checklist with a scrap of paper and an old pencil and it would work just fine.
But take that checklist and wrap it with Web 2.0 bells and whistles, awesome typography, Javascript animation, a color scheme that pops right out of the ...

VentureBeat has a rather interesting exclusive this evening: Acer is said to be launching Chrome OS devices in two weeks at Computex 2010 in Taipei....But don't get too excited just yet.
I'm not sure if you've built the Chromium OS source code lately, but it's far from complete (and most of you probably wouldn't expect it to be). The user interface still needs quite a bit of polish, the window ...

Now that you can go and pick up Windows 7 just about anywhere (I hear there's a free copy of Starter coming with every Happy Meal*), let's take a look back at some of Download Squad's past articles about the new OS.
After all, we've been covering it since it was just a rumor and using Windows 7 hands-on since...Well, frankly since that first leak appeared on torrent trackers. With our retail ...

Launching stuff is cool, and doing so in a flash game online is even cooler. VivaLaGames brings us a new Time Waster with "HedgeHog Launch". The premise is simple, you go through a series of days and launch HedgeHogs with a nice launcher gear, much like you would water balloons. Except these aren't balloons, these are dangerous little beasts called HedgeHogs. it's not quite Sonic, but we think ...

Lifehacker has a great tip on launching your most-used programs really quickly. It relies on the little-known (well, I didn't know it, at least) fact that when the Windows Start menu is open, pressing a letter on your keyboard will launch the first "pinned" shortcut that begins with that letter. Armed with this knowledge, you can prefix the names of shortcuts pinned to your XP Start menu with ...

Keen readers may
have noticed the little dogear up in the corner linking to Weblogs, Inc.'s newest blog, PS3 Fanboy. You may think we have our obsessions here at Download Squad, but you
haven't seen obsession until you visit the fanboys (and girls!) over there. They couldn't be more excited about Sony's
Playstation 3, and if your enthusiasms run along the same lines, do yourself a favor and check ...
