In news that will no doubt shake the very bedrock of your belief system, Apple has asked Toyota to remove its Scion theme and its advertising from ModMyi, a Cydia repository. The Scion theme has been available for weeks, but after it received a ton of press in the last couple of days, Apple finally lashed out.
It's not like we should be surprised, considering Apple has claimed in the past ...

Jailbreakers, your iOS 4.3.1 time has come -- the iPhone Dev-Team has updated their redsn0w and PwnageTool utilities to enable an untethered jailbreak of the latest and greatest iOS version. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc6 and PwnageTool 4.3 both use an exploit discovered by Stefan Esser, a German security researcher, best know to the jailbreak community as the man behind the antid0te framework, which ...

A jailbreak of iOS 4.3.1 is now possible with both PwnageTool on Mac, and Sn0wbreeze on Windows. RedmondPie -- who else? -- has some handy guides that you can follow for all iOS 4.3.1 devices on Windows, for iPhone 4 on OS X, iPad 1 on OS X, iPhone 3GS on OS X, and iPod touch 4G and 3G on OS X.
All iOS 4.3.1 jailbreaks are still tethered, meaning you'll have to jailbreak your device after every ...

Redmond Pie, a blog that seems to resolutely have given up on its Microsoft roots, has published a guide on jailbreaking iOS 4.3 on Windows with Sn0wbreeze 2.3. It should work with the iPhone 4 and 3GS, iPad and iPod touch.
We don't have any personal experience with Sn0wbreeze here at Download Squad, but the process seems easy enough. Like the PwnageTool Mac jailbreak of iOS 4.3, this is a ...

If you've got a jailbroken iPhone, you can easily remove the annoying new "quick bar" from the official Twitter for iPhone app. A free app called Twizzler does the trick, and it's available in the Cydia store right now. Just install Twizzler, relaunch Twitter, and the quick bar is gone. No fuss necessary.
Now, if only Twitter would add this option to the official app's settings ... ...

Mere hours after the release of the iOS 4.3 golden master to developers, Redmond Pie has compiled a guide to jailbreak the new version with a combination of PwnageTool and Universal Ramdisk Fixer.
It's definitely not a one-click jailbreak, however, and it's still tethered at this stage -- you'll have to re-jailbreak every time you reboot -- but it's a promising indicator that a proper ...

We saw the Chronic Dev Team push out a Greenpois0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 last week, but now FireCore have brought the same jailbreak components to their Apple TV offering in an update to their nice and simple Seas0nPass jailbreak tool. Currently only available for Mac, Apple TV owners rocking Apple TV 4.1.1, which confusingly runs iOS 4.2.1, can use the tool to get their jailbreak on ...

After a bit of trouble with iBooks checking for the ability to run unsigned code, and then refusing to let you read books you'd paid for, the Chronic Dev-Team have updated GreenPois0n to RC6.1. They've matched the iPhone Dev-Team's PwnageTool and rolled in Comex's iBooks fix, which blocks the check, meaning that you shouldn't have any issues going forwards.
While there are less and less reasons ...

Apple, it seems, may be trying out some anti-jailbreak code in its iBooks e-book reader app. The app intentionally tries to run an some unsigned executable code every time you try to open a book -- and if it runs, iBooks knows the device is jailbroken and refuses to open your e-books.
Fortunately (or unfortunately for Apple), the iPhone Dev-Team has released a new version of the PwnageTool ...

While other iOS devices have had the pleasure of untethered jailbreaks for a while, where you don't have to re-jailbreak every time you reboot, the Apple TV was left out of that party -- until now. The Chronic Dev Team have released GreenPois0n RC6, which adds a little coding magic from the NitoTV team to enable the current generation Apple TV to go tetherless. While not being able to reboot your ...

Well that didn't take long: the Verizon iPhone has been jailbroken. After a little hiccup requiring a quick fix, greenpois0n RC5.4 is now capable of jailbreaking your shiny new CDMA iPhone running iOS 4.2.6. Available for both Windows and Mac OS X, greenpois0n from the Chronic Dev Team, allows you to break free from Apple's draconian vice-like grip and embrace the goods and evils of the jailbreak ...

FaceTime for the iPad is here! ... if you've got a jailbroken iPad running iOS 4.2.1 and you're comfortable using the command line to move files, that is. A slightly complicated 7-step hack will get you an iPad-optimized of Apple's popular video-calling app, albeit without the ability to transmit video (due to the iPad's lack of a camera). The instructions are up on 9to5Mac, and you can follow ...

It's been more than 6 months since Steve Jobs said iPhones would "someday" be able to wirelessly sync with Macs. Apple still hasn't delivered, but a third-party workaround called Wi-FI Sync 2.0 is now in beta. The original Wi-Fi Sync app was released last year, but 2.0 has two important new features: it will auto-detect Macs on your home network, and it offers syncing via 3G. Anyone who purchases ...

The Chronic Dev Team has unleashed the the untethered greenpois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, which means you don't have to re-root your phone after every reboot.
Some provisos, though: the jailbreak is only available for Mac users right now, and the greenpois0n website seems to be down, so you can't actually download the jailbreak. Also, according to the excited Engadget commenters, it sounds ...

Theming on iOS really depends on whether you've jailbroken your device or not. If not, then changing your wallpaper is about as far as customization goes. If you have chosen to step into the 'dark side', then there are many more options for making your iPhone stand out in the crowd. However, up until today, finding worthwhile themes involved searching for them in the Cydia app store, and that ...
