Hulu's much-anticipated monthly subscription service has arrived. It's called Hulu Plus, and it offers all of the features we've heard rumors about for months: HD streaming, access to more episodes and the ability to watch Hulu on your TV are all included. The price is also just as anticipated: $10/mo.
Two things weren't entirely anticipated about Hulu Plus, though. One: iPad and iPhone ...

Web TV site Hulu just introduced a new video player that's frankly pretty excellent, but the new features might be overshadowed by the ongoing debate over HTML5 support. It seems they can add all the features they want to their web player, but the users' focus is on enabling HTML5 playback so Hulu will play on iPads and iPhones. The problem isn't that HTML5 vids aren't ready for users, it's that ...

Ad revenue isn't cutting it for Hulu anymore. The online TV site plans to expand its business to include a subscription service, reportedly priced at $9.95 a month. Hulu's current offerings -- the 5 most recent episodes of each show -- would remain free. The premium service will be called Hulu Plus, according to the LA Times.
The subscription service, reportedly coming late next month, would ...

Everybody loves the idea of Hulu, but a series of disappointing decisions and problems with content providers keep plaguing the service. Hulu is U.S.-only, it's never gotten along well with anyone who wanted to provide a nicer client app for it (check out the Hulu/Boxee saga, which eventually landed in front of Congress), it's not available on major mobile devices because it's stuck with Flash, ...

digg_url = 'http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2010/02/06/americans-consume-33-billion-online-videos-in-december-2009'; Boom! 178 million US Internet users watched online videos in December. That's 87% of the total potential audience -- very nearly total penetration. I wonder what percentage of Internet users write email -- less than 87%? Anyway, of those 33 billion videos, 40% (13 billion) of ...

Hulu, the online video service that allows users to watch television shows for free, is thinking about charging. Yeah, it sounds kind of strange to me too. In an effort to increase revenue, it looks like Hulu may put a premium price tag on some popular shows and exclusive web content.
It doesn't look like it's going to be all bad though. Hulu is going about this the right way and has taken ...

The other day, Hulu finally rolled out Hulu Magazine for Foreigners. Ok, so it's really a thumbnailed caption search, but guys like me and Sebastian have to put a positive spin on new Hulu features when we can since we may never get to use them.
Now there's word that Hulu has agreed to a distribution deal with Warner Music Group. The deal will allow Hulu to begin working on artist pages where ...

Rejoice, fellow non-Americans!
Today, let us celebrate both our non-Americanness AND Hulu's new, amazing Caption Search. While we can't actually watch anything on Hulu, we can now follow the script in full, closed-caption goodness! Better yet, there's even a tiny thumbnail next to each search result to help kick-start your imagination -- who needs actual moving pictures? If I shut my eyes I ...

Major magazine publishers know they're in trouble. Mags have been shutting down all over the place during the past year, and the rise of blogs and eReaders continues apace. A group of publishers including Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith, News Corp., and Time Inc. has combined to launch a digital delivery system for magazines that has been compared to both iTunes and the popular streaming TV site ...

It's one of those things that you'd expect all large sites to have, but for some reason or another, Hulu has always had a bit of a gimpy search engine. You kind of typed stuff in... and prayed the site knew what you were looking for. But that's just changed! Just in time too, with the deluge of festive programming that's about to hit their website. Yes, Hulu now has an Advanced Search: rejoice ...

While YouTube, MTV, Vevo, MySpace, and other online video sites compete for the title of "Hulu for music videos," it looks like Hulu is hoping to get in on the action itself. Hulu has made a name for itself as a destination site for professionally produced TV shows and movies. Sure, it's only available in the US, and it doesn't have nearly as many TV episodes or movies as you can find from your ...

Hulu is quite simply one of the best ways to watch TV on the internet. In fact, in some ways, Hulu offers a better viewing experience than old fashioned TV. For example, you tend to have just 2-3 minutes of commercials to put up with when watching a one hour (or rather, 42 minute) program on Hulu, instead of 18 minutes of advertisements.
But partly for that reason, FOX, NBC, ABC, and the other ...

Over the past year or so Hulu has quickly become one of the most popular online video sites even though it's only open to US viewers. Hulu's success likely comes from a number of factors including a focus on high quality professionally produced content including network TV shows and movies, a simple user interface, and relatively unobtrusive advertisements that are much easier to put up with ...

Hulu Desktop is a pretty nifty application that lets you find and watch Hulu video content on a home theater PC using a media center remote control without a keyboard. But if you already have a home theater PC connected to your TV, you may want to integrate Hulu Desktop with your other media center software. Here's a little trick that will add a Hulu icon to Windows Vista Media Center that makes ...

Online video site Hulu has begun adding content from TV network ABC to its site. Hulu and ABC's parent company Disney announced a partnership deal back in April, but today is the first day you can actually find ABC content on Hulu... just not very much of it. Hulu is starting with Grey's Anatomy, and has plans to roll out other shows including Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Scrubs, and I ...
