Nirvana is a new to-do app, aimed mainly at GTD fanatics. If you love contexts, ticklers, "next actions" and various other GTD buzzwords, you'll feel right at home with Nirvana.
The system is currently in invite-only beta, but they were kind enough to send me an invite so that I could review it. After the fold, you can see a fairly extensive screenshot tour that gives a pretty good idea of what ...

Picasa is awesome. The way that it integrates with Web Albums is very convenient, and the process of selecting your best images and uploading them to an online album is extremely polished. However, when the time comes to share this album with your friends, you might want to show them something a bit more personalized than a generic Picasa Web Albums link. If you are a professional or aspiring ...

Ok, Google, I know your big thing is search. And I know it's a great way to get around my GMail inbox and find stuff on the Internet -- but it's just not that awesome in the Google Chrome Extension Gallery.
While the number of extensions available might be catching up to Firefox, the Mozilla site is infinitely more enjoyable to explore. There we can browse by tags, categories, sift through the ...

I'm a big fan of iPhone photo apps, because the built-in Camera and Photos applications certainly don't handle every photo-related task you might want to do with your phone. You can email photos from the Photos app, for example, but you can't upload them anywhere.
Various photo sites have their own uploader apps, but what if you use more than one site? Orli Yakuel at GO2WEB20 just posted about ...

Even though Apple's MobileMe Gallery is already iPhone-friendly, today they've taken it a step further with the release of a free iPhone application: MobileMe Gallery [iTunes Link]. The goal is to make it even easier to access and use their photo sharing service.
With the application, you can view your own gallery (including password protected areas) but also view movies and photos that have ...

With the Download Squad crew (and the rest of the world) spending more and more time in our web browsers, we decided it's time to make with the weekly round-ups. Sebastian introduced you to our Firefox series last week, and now it's time to get the ball rolling for Google Chrome!
Each week we'll be sharing interesting items we've gathered - news, program updates, extensions, themes - you name ...

SimpleViewer, a customizable image gallery package for displaying photos on your site, just hit version 2.0 and added some slick new features. SimpleViewer can now grab photos directly from Flickr, and it also has the ability to automatically create galleries from Lightroom and Photoshop. The latest free version offers three gallery styles, it's also customizable via XML.

When Google opened the doors to its Chrome Extensions Gallery the other day, there were some interesting questions to be answered: Would ad blockers be allowed? What about YouTube downloaders? They're some of the most popular Firefox add-ons, but it looked as though Google wasn't about to let them in to its own Gallery.
In their program policies for the Extensions Gallery, Google states "We ...

For quite some time we all wondered when developers would start rolling out Google Chrome extensions. It was pretty slow going at first, but things have started picking up lately -- possibly due to the imminent launch of the official Google Chrome Extensions Gallery.
Gallery or not, I'm happy to keep checking out what's new at ChromeExtensions.Org. Today's find is ChromeMUSE, which adds ...

With its doors open to uploads and everyone buzzing about Google Chrome for one reason or another, the Extensions Gallery will be arriving soon. And while there's usually open(source)ness involved when talking about Google and Chrome, the Gallery isn't going to be quite as open as we might have thought.
Unlike Mozilla's add-on site for Firefox, it appears as though things are going to run in ...

Windows 7 adds several cool, new desktop personalization features. Whether it's tweaking your Aero Glass color or subscribing to an RSS feed for new wallpaper images, customization is easier than it ever has been on Windows. A while back I mentioned the arrival of an official Ferrari prototype theme (which will no doubt be appearing on some shiny new Acer laptops very soon). It's now been added ...

Launching a new CMS these days is a tough proposition. It's a crowded field, and distinguishing your product takes some ingenuity. Well, FireRift is one publishing platform that knows how to take a marketing concept way, way over the top. The video commercial for FireRift is like something out of a campy Ronnie James Dio video from the '80s, with a meteor, glowing eyes, and a couple of wizardly ...

With all the hoopla over Apple's approval process for iPhone apps, it's nice to see them make a sensible decision about a feature they could have nitpicked. Cooliris, a slick image-viewing app we've covered before, recently added an option to adjust SafeSearch settings for Google images. That means you can view NSFW image search results on your iPhone in one of the best-looking gallery interfaces ...

Here's a gallery of the highlights: basic pages, Options, menus, and a few Google services all running smoothly. The key: speed. We haven't seen speeds like these... ever! Be sure to check out Jason's full review in the post below this one. ...

No more forgetting where you took that picture on your vacation, Google has now made it possible for users to pinpoint the exact places they took their photos by mapping photos. A new feature called "Map My Photos" was released on Tuesday in Picasa Web Albums, lets users show exactly where on a map pictures were taken. When creating an album, fill out the Place Taken field, or drag and drop ...
