Rejoice! No longer will you have to fork over $700 for a Photoshop CS5 license! Adobe has unveiled a new subscription scheme where you can rent the entire Creative Suite, or individual packages, by the month, or for an entire year.
Adobe Photoshop can be yours for $35 per month if you agree to rent it for 12 months, or $49 per month if you require its services for a shorter period. ...

Adobe, the software giant behind the monstrously-successful Creative Suite, Reader and Flash, has just racked up its first billion-dollar quarter. Up from $757 million in the same period last year, this represents a 33% year-over-year revenue growth, which is pretty damn massive. Over the entire year, Adobe enjoyed a total revenue of $3.8 billion, up from $2.9 billion in 2009.
With all of the ...

At a rather awesome price of $149 (or $119 after mail-in rebate!!!), the latest cut-down versions of Photoshop and Premiere are now available for both Windows and Mac as a bundle. Individually, each app costs $99.
Photoshop Elements 9 is adapted from Photoshop CS5, and it features the delicious 'Content Aware' Fill and Spot Healing that photographers the world over have no doubt been waiting ...

A new beta 'Labs' add-on from Adobe adds a ton of HTML5-specific features to Adobe Illustrator CS5. This follows the release of an HTML5 add-on for Dreamweaver CS5 that shipped at the end of August.
This add-on actually allows users of Illustrator to export their designs directly into HTML5 code. Instead of shipping off finished designs to be re-rendered in HTML and CSS by a Web designer, ...

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has a new feature that digital artists have been demanding for years: it's called the HUD Color Picker and I'm sure it's making Photoshoppers dizzy with excitement. That is if they even know it exists -- you see, the HUD (heads-up display) is buried under a truly atrocious shortcut: Shift+Alt+Right Click. Still, if you have Photoshop CS5, try it -- you can see it in the ...

Rejoice! No longer must you hack and slash at your preferences folder to backup or share your workspace -- there's a script to do it for you! Simply grab the script, unzip it, then Files>Scripts>Browse in Photoshop.
The ingenious engineers at Adobe are obviously hard at work on CS6, and this script is likely an early example of what we can expect in the next iteration of the Creative ...

![Adobe Camera Raw 6.1 arrives; automatic lens correction finally here!]()
If you use your digital camera for anything other than family or touristy snaps, you've probably run into the raw image format. If you haven't heard of raw, think of it as a bigger, high-quality JPEG file. Unlike JPEG, raw files contain a lot more data, enabling you to manipulate your photos a lot more easily. With JPEGs a lot of data is lost -- if you shoot raw photos, you have more choice over ...

HDR, or 'high dynamic range imaging', is a popular term in photographic circles at the moment. Love it or hate it, HDR, thanks to the digital camera, is here to stay. To that end, Adobe has finally given us a half-decent interface for conjuring up blindingly over-shiny and under-achieving HDR photographs. Dubbed 'HDR Pro', it replaces the God-awful interface present in CS4. Whether it will make ...

One of Photoshop CS5's most talked-about and exciting features is its new 'content-aware' algorithm. Either for spot healing or filling arbitrary areas, the content-aware tools provide a new and surprisingly-veracious replacement for the clone brush and other antiquated methods.
The screencast is only a few minutes long, and even if you you haven't used Photoshop before, you will find the ...

It seems the camel's back has finally snapped: Adobe's Flash department has curtailed all Flash and AIR development for the iPhone OS platform. Citing the recent change in Apple's developer license, Adobe no longer believes the iPad or iPhone to be a safe or worthwhile investment. The ability to target iPhone and iPad in Flash CS5 will still exist, but no further work will be made by Adobe to ...

As you have probably heard by now, Adobe CS5 is on its way and will be released within 30 days. At the moment all the news sources are reporting from Adobe's press release, so I'm not going to try and repeat what has already been said -- instead, I'm going to show you some really cool videos that Adobe also made public today.
First up, because I'm a photographer, and because Adobe is at pains ...

There's a chance you might already have seen this 'sneak peek' video, in which case forgive me. For those of you that haven't seen it, read on and take the jump to view it.
This is actually old news, but I only just stumbled across it a couple of days ago. You see, news of Adobe's next Creative Suite is so hard to come by that this is still the latest Photoshop development! In fact, since ...

Flash is coming to the iPhone! Well, sort of. Adobe is showing off a new feature of Flash CS5 Professional that will convert Flash/Actionscript into iPhone apps. The public beta of CS5 with Flash Platform is due out later this year, but for now, you can test out some iPhone games that were created with the new system. For comparison, check out the puzzle game Chroma Circuit on the web and then on ...
