We know that a Windows Phone 7 update is coming soon, and we know it's going to fix some performance issues and bring copy/paste to the Microsoft mobile OS. We also know it's going to plug the Chevron WP7 jailbreak hole. What we don't know for sure is when it's going to be released.
Still, now that the update is in the hands of select Windows Phone 7 developers there's a good chance Microsoft ...

Don't get me wrong -- I really enjoy using Zune to listen to music on my desktop computer. When all I want to do is quickly drop a couple of songs or video clips onto my Windows Phone 7 device, however, it's a bit overkill. While my humble little Palm Pre has a USB mass storage mode which lets me copy files onto it like it was any other external hard drive, WP7 devices aren't quite as accessible. ...

VidCoder is a nice, little DVD ripper for Windows -- it provides a simple, streamlined interface, supports encoding presets, and uses Hanbrake's processing engine for the heavy lifting. One feature which was notably absent from the last version we covered was support for Blu-Ray discs. That has been added in version 0.7.0, and VidCoder is now better than ever.
One other nice feature VidCoder ...

It's happened to pretty much everyone who uses copy and paste. You find some text on the Web, which just happens to be huge, bold, and a color you wouldn't even want on your argyle socks. You highlight, copy, and paste it into a new email message to share with a chum and the ugliness transfers.
If only there was a solution -- like some sort of hotkey combo that would automatically strip the ...

Write Attack! is a very neat writing tool. You set a timer for your session and specify how many words you'd like to write.
Once you write the first ten words, the timer starts counting back. You now have X number of minutes to make that target and write as many words as you decided to write. While the timer is running, you cannot save your file, and you can't copy your text elsewhere. It's ...

Let me start off by saying I am not a huge fan of the Windows file context menu. On my system it contains twenty eight separate entries, just on the main menu (not counting sub-menus). It's an abominable UI pattern, and I wish it would be replaced by a simple command-entry interface, like Microsoft did with the Start menu. I mean, how many people actually use the "menu" part of the Start menu in ...

Wish your Windows clipboard could handle more than one item at a time? Maybe you'd like it to maintain a history of all the things you copy -- text, images, links?
Have a look at Clipboard Manager (Clipman), a small, portable application which greatly enhances your Windows clipboard. Just extract Clipman to a folder and double click the executable to let it take control over your copypasta.

If you've ever copied text from a website only to see an annoying "read more" message attached when you paste it, you've probably run across Tynt. Sites like The New Yorker, The San Francisco Chronicle and even TechCrunch use Tynt to add analytics links to your clipboard when you copy text, so they can tell site owners what their readers are copying.
Most people just delete the extra crap after ...

Remember when a lack of copy and paste was one of the biggest complaints about the iPhone? Well, even though those days are far behind us, copying and pasting on an iPhone could still be a lot easier. That's where Pastebot comes in. This slick new app from Tapbots lets you store multiple snippets of text, links, and even images, for easy pasting later.
Adding a clipping is extremely simple: ...

Shadow is a clipboard utility for OS X. Nothing special about that, right? I mean, we covered a whole slew of good ones back in January. Hold on a minute, though, because Shadow puts a new twist on the classic clipboard-enhancement app: it lets you copy and paste across your network. That's right: Shadow uses Bonjour to let you use your clipboard across all your networked Macs. It has a lot of ...

When you try to copy a group of files from one folder to another, Windows will bring up a handy little window if it notices files in the target directory with the same name as files from the source directory. You can manually choose which files to overwrite or leave be one by one. Or you can click "Yes to All" to effectively overwrite every file with a duplicate name in the target directory. But ...

When you want to copy multiple files to your clipboard in Windows you have a few choices. You can highlight a group of files with your mouse, you can hold the Shift key to select the first and last files in a series, or you can hold the Ctrl key to select multiple files in a folder even if they aren't adjacent. But what if you want to copy a group of files that aren't all hanging out in the same ...

Without copy and paste functionality, modern computers might as well be ancient typewriters. OK, that might be going a bit far, but would you really want to live in a world without copy and paste functionality? It's amazing how much time you can save copying and pasting serial numbers, text, URLs, pictures, and other items. But what happens when you hit Ctrl+C and then forget to hit Ctrl+V ...

Don't have one of those newfangled all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/time machines? Well, if you've got a printer and a scanner hooked up to you computer, you probably know that it's not that hard to use your PC as a copy machine. Just scan an image with the one and print it with the other. The problem is that you might wind up having to use two or three separate programs to do the scanning and ...

These Firefox extensions are great for the type of person who is constantly copying and pasting while in Firefox, perfect for bloggers. The first one is Auto Copy.
Auto Copy is a great extension that makes copying and pasting anything mere child's play. If you wish to copy something, all you need to do is highlight the text that you wish to copy. And that's it! What you just highlighted is now on ...
