CD is another one of those so-called "URL-driven" Web applications. It's a timer, and all you have to do is feed it with the right URL. Here are a few examples:
http://cd.justinjc.com/15 will count down 15 minutes.
http://cd.justinjc.com/15s will count down 15 seconds.
http://cd.justinjc.com/2h4m15s will count down two hours, four minutes, and 15 seconds.

CD Art Display is a great little utility that puts the album art for the music you're listening to right on your desktop. It works with numerous players (iTunes, Foobar2000, Winamp, Helium, Windows Media Player, and more), and it shows you the album art for whatever track is currently playing with a beautiful skin. The art has to be in the album's folder, but if you don't already have it, CD Art ...

I play around with a lot of Linux distributions and while I typically just virtualize them using an app like VirtualBox or VMware, sometimes it's nice to be able to test them on bare metal. A nice, pain-free way to do that is with Pendrive Linux's Universal USB Installer.
The tool's actually been around for a while, but you may not have heard of it -- it's not talked about as much as other ...

If you've ever encountered a CD or DVD image that you just couldn't convert -- except with paid software -- DVD-Ranger's ISO Buddy is a free tool you'll want to check out.
It's a disc image conversion and burning program, and it supports more formats than you can shake a spindle at. Apart from more run-of-the-mill formats like Nero's .NRG, .BIN, and .ISO files, ISOBuddy can also handle images ...

ImgBurn is an excellent, free application for all kinds of burning tasks. Its developer Lightning UK has built a number of improvements into recent versions -- making an already good program even better.
Version 2.5.1 is now available for download and the changelog is a typically lengthy one. Two key alterations are worth noting. First, ImgBurn's disc layout editor view now includes an ...

What's better than a free trial? Why, when something's free forever, of course! While I agree with that statement on the Nero 9 Free Edition download page, I'm not going to recommend any of you rush over to download it. Why not? I've got eight reasons. 1. They're asking for your email before giving out the download link. Not a huge deal, I know, but it's still annoying. I'd recommend using ...

Last year, some of our commenters steered me toward ImgBurn as a Nero alternative, and it's been my CD and DVD recording app of choice ever since. It's an excellent lightweight program, handles just about every kind of disc-related task imaginable, and it's totally free. Version 2.5 boasts a big list of additions, changes, and bugfixes, though the core functionality remains the same. It still ...

Most of my customers still think Nero and Roxio are the only people that make burning software. Most of you know better - there are tons of good, free burning applications for Windows. Here's a quick list of five that I enjoy using. If your favorite isn't mentioned, share it with us in the comments!
ImgBurn (pictured above) Since most of my recording tasks involve ISO files or burning entire ...

I don't do a lot of ISO creation, so when I do find myself needing to compile an image I like a nice, uncomplicated app to get the job done. Free ISO Creator's self-explanatory interface makes the process about as easy as it can get. Browse for files and folders to add, choose where you'd like your ISO to be saved, and click convert. It's speedy, compiling my test CD in about 12 seconds. ...

The 'net is a great place to get your hands on music and movies, but if you're like me you sometimes have difficulty remembering to label the disc or its container. Liquid Mongoose has created a clever web app that will create a custom paper sleeve from any AOL Music album page or Netflix DVD page. All you need to do is drag the bookmarklet link to your Firefox toolbar or add it to your ...

There are plenty of free CD/DVD burners for Windows, and to be honest we haven't often been tempted to look beyond CDBurnerXP and InfraRecorder, which both seem to handle pretty much any tasks you can throw at them. But while reading an article about BurnOn over at Life Rocks 2.0, we noticed a link in the comments to StarBurn. And while we might check out BurnOn later, we were kind of blown away ...

As you may have noticed, now might not exactly be the best time to get involved in the stock market. Sure, year over year, chances are you'll make money. But there's a good chance that if you throw a few thousand dollars into a mutual fund right now it might be worth less in 3 months ...

Mac OS X does a great job of integrating CD/DVD burning into the iLife suite and Finder, but LiquidCD unifies your disc-burning needs in one easy-to-use (and free!) program. LiquidCD lets you create basic audio CD's and data CD's or DVD's, but it also adds the handy ability to burn multiple disc image formats like .cue, .iso, and .dmg. LiquidCD, which is available in 15 different languages, is a ...

Online music retailer AnywhereCD is closing down within the next few days. The online retailer took a different approach toward music sales than pretty much anybody else around. The company's business model was based around selling CDs and throwing in free MP3 downloads. Or maybe it was the other way around. If you ask us, there were two fatal flaws in the plan:
They were selling DRM-free ...
