Bing has just announced mall maps, taking maps to the hyper-local department store level. Not only are mall maps "US-only," but nearly all of the current offerings are located in Microsoft's home state of Washington. There are actually a couple of New York malls in the list -- as well as a single one from Boston, Massachusetts.
Bing gives you a fully browsable "you are here" mall directory that ...

It's no secret that Microsoft relishes its large share of ace-in-the-hole Facebook. Not one to rest on its laurels, though, Microsoft continues to plow ahead with deeper and tastier Facebook integration. Starting today, Bing Shopping now lets you create shopping lists, which you can share with Facebook.
Now, instead of just clicking 'Go to store,' you can add items to a list. You can use the ...

Just in time for the holiday weekend, Bing has rolled out some useful updates to its Movies search. Now when you search for a movie of your choosing, Bing can provide movie listings close to your current location, giving you show-times, a quick synopsis and distances to the various theaters. A time-saving feature that brings Bing into line with Google's offering.
Bing also provides a revamped ...

You can now browse the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace with Bing's Visual Search tool. According to the announcement, it only works in the US and UK -- but to make it work, after visiting the WP7 Visual Search, I had to change my location (in the top right corner) to "United States - English." Then I had to visit the Visual Search page again. Presumably this will also work if you live elsewhere, too. ...

Using the consummate magic of Facebook Connect (or Windows Live ID), users of Microsoft's game portals can now stay in touch with their friends while they play Bejeweled thanks to a 'casual games hub.'
From what I can see, this games hub takes the form of a 'dashboard' that wraps around each of the games, whether you play them on MSN Games, Bing or Live Messenger. Take a look at the screenshot ...

Bing's Android application is now available to all Android device owners in the United States, and not limited to Verizon customers anymore. The app itself hasn't changed in any way, it's just that you can now find it in the Android Market in the US regardless of what your carrier of choice is. Previously, it came pre-installed on some Verizon Android smartphones, and was only available to ...

Last month, Google began beta testing instant search previews -- a la Bing or Ask. The feature, now dubbed Instant Previews, shows you a preview of what the search result looks like. Today, Google has announced that previews have been officially turned on and are now rolling out across the globe.
Initial impressions of the feature were mixed here at Download Squad, with many users preferring ...

The continued integration between Bing and Facebook, which we originally covered a couple of weeks ago, has now gone live -- at least for US users. Now, if you are logged into Facebook, your Bing search results will be 'socially tailored' -- i.e. if a friend has liked a website, it will be at the top of your search results. Profiles will also appear if you search for names.
LiveSide is ...

Blekko, despite how it sounds, is a search engine -- not a euphemism for vomit.
It's a search engine that, in its quest to go up against bigger opponents like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, has tried to set itself apart by lumping operators into "slashtags," calling itself "social," and touting how "open" and "transparent" its search results are. It also tries to put an overwhelmingly positive spin ...

Facebook and Bing have announced a partnership that will bring your social network to your Bing search results. When you search on Bing, while logged into Facebook, you'll see your friends' faces next to any results for pages they've "liked," making it easier to spot results you might be interested in.
Facebook will also factor into Bing's improved people search, popping up people you're more ...

Changes to the search bar are coming in Firefox 4 and, despite rumors, Bing isn't getting a prominent place on the list. Microsoft's search engine will be included in the list (for English language users), but it will still sit behind Google and Yahoo! in Firefox's search engine menu, and Google will remain the default search. Teams working on Firefox localizations for other languages will have ...

Bing has rather quietly been developing into a competitive Google alternative. It's got some very nice features -- even Google thinks so. At least, we can assume they do, since they're testing another Bingesque feature right now.
As The Next Web reports, Google is playing with the idea of displaying website previews when a user hovers over a search result. Bing, of course, limits its previews ...

Originally launched back in August (yes, we missed it!), the Bing Dynamic theme pack is a quick and easy way to get the latest and greatest Bing photos pasted all over your Windows 7 desktop wallpaper.
Four new images were added to the rotation today, but I honestly have no idea how many images are actually part of the pack. Apparently two new images are added every week -- it uses an RSS feed ...

Microsoft may have shut down the Bing Cashback program, but they're not ready to quit trying to entice users just yet. The Redmond Crew has unveiled Bing Rewards -- think of it as frequent flyer miles for your search engine.
There's a catch, of course. You can't accumulate points simply by using Bing for searches -- you've got to install the Silverlight-powered Bing Bar as well. If you're ...

Bing Maps has added another nice feature, adding public transportation routes to 11 major U.S. cities. It's a good first step for Bing, though there's certainly a lot of work left to do to catch up to Google Maps -- which covers more than twice that many in California alone and a total of 446 cities around the globe.
In cities with coverage, Bing now includes routes for bus, rail, and subway. ...
