Google bids $900 million for Nortel's patents to protect against litigation trolls
Nortel, once one of the biggest telecoms company in the world but now in the death throes of bankruptcy, has selected Google's $900 million bid for its patent portfolio as the stalking horse bid. The popular online music player SeeqPod, a service whose API powers a cluster of other music sites, has apparently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to documents linked by TechCrunch. The US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that two websites that offered customers assistance filing bankruptcy claims were essentially guilty of practicing law without a license. Henry Ihejirika ran the websites, Ziinet.com and 700law.com (both sites have been taken down).
