Rotate and Roll is a game about balls. However, it can rapidly turn into a game about balls plummeting towards inevitable doom, unless you play it wisely.
The balls in question are on a plank. Sometimes it's just one lonely ball per level, and sometimes there are as many as four. When you press the arrow keys, the entire level rotates. Obviously, the board tilts, and the ball starts rolling.
If ...

The Factory Balls games are truly great Time Wasters. They're all about experimentation and carefully plotting your steps as you try to duplicate the finished ball pictured on the shipping box.
Factory Balls 3 is the latest in the series, and it's more of the same frustratingly good puzzle fun. Drive yourself mental as you re-trace your steps to create Pac Man, flowery little terrarium ...

Quick! Think of the most tired video game concept you can possibly think of. If you're as old as me, you probably thought about Pong. Fun in its day, Pong is now almost a joke when compared to the modern video games of the early 1990's.
But, what if you flip the concept on its head, and instead of controlling the paddle, you control the ball? This is one of my favorite trends of late: taking a ...

Max Damage is a ballistics-based physics game where the goal is to cause the highest damage to household appliances and consumer electronics as possible. The game calculates your score for each level based on the dollar value of the damage you have caused.
Your character can't move, and your only weapon is a cannon that can shoot various types of balls. You then have to creatively choose where to ...

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name ...

Water Werks is another Time Waster where the aim is to get the balls to the goal. In this iteration of the well-used concept, you can only influence the balls by spraying water at the objects in the environment around them. The balls themselves are impervious to the water's effects.
You can move your hose around and adjust the spray nozzle from a wide to narrow stream, which influences the ...

Must Pop Words is a boggling word game that boggles the mind; it reminds me of a trademarked game who's name I can't quite put my finger on. The idea is that letter balls fall from the top of the screen, and you have to quickly type words to make them pop and disappear. The letters fall with alarming regularity, so if you're not on the ball, so to speak, your screen can quickly fill up your game ...

Try as I might, I just can't get away from the physics games. There's something so compelling about applying real-world movement to a game, even if sometimes the physics are only approximations of reality.
Collider, the game I'm into currently, does a fairly good job of approximating balls rolling down ramps and chutes, and otherwise reacting to gravity. There are three types of balls in Collider: ...

As with a lot of good Time Wasters, the concept behind Scriball isn't rocket surgery (to quote Don Cherry). Your goal is the green circle, and your mission is to guide the yellow ball onto it. Things are complicated ever-so-slightly by your means of locomotion. You've got two ways to make the ball move: click to jump or draw a line by dragging your mouse. See how long the line is in the ...

Man, oh man. If ever there were a time waster with a name that could evoke innuendo and double-entendre, it's one called Balls. It's excruciatingly difficult not to comment about playing with them or that this game scratches a real itch. Staying strong, we'll steer well clear of commentary like that. Balls is a very simple game in which you play the part of a little grey ball, trying to touch a ...
