Twitter for Mac has received an update -- which is now live in the Mac App Store. The updated version brings a new blue icon in place of the initial release's black one. The other noteworthy change is that the secret menu that was only available for MacHeist customers has now been removed.
Hitting a specific key combination would unlock that menu, as well as access to exclusive beta updates. ...

When Mac app bundlers MacHeist included Tweetie for Mac in their NanoBundle2 last year, they promised purchasers early beta access to Tweetie 2. That promise got complicated when Twitter acquired Tweetie and hired its developer, Loren Brichter, to work on the official Twitter iPhone app. Tweetie for Mac seemed to be dead.
Well, now that Tweetie has been reborn as the official Twitter for Mac ...

The long awaited Tweetie 2 for Mac has finally launched, with a new name: it's now Twitter for Mac. When Twitter bought Tweetie, they announced that developer Loren Brichter would be turning the iPhone version into an official Twitter for iPhone, but the Mac version of Tweetie wasn't getting Twitter branding -- and effective became a hobby for Loren.

The official Twitter for iPhone app has updated, and with the latest update it became a universal app, meaning it has native iPhone and iPad versions. While the iPhone version continues to incrementally improve, it's the iPad version that is really remarkable.
It took me a little while to get used to it, because the user interface is fairly busy. But you get a heck of a lot of bang for your buck ...

We've mentioned Twitter's special @earlybird account before, but this little project has finally left the nest. @earlybird offers deals to Twitter users and it launched with a Disney partnership -- offering discount tickets to The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Apparently, services like Groupon and Gilt will be getting in on the action soon. If you like deals, keep an eye on @earlybird.

Watch out, other Twitter clients! Tweetie, developed by Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) just became the official iPhone client for Twitter. It's changing its name to "Twitter for iPhone" (which seems like a no-brainer) and dropping from $2.99 to free. Brichter will join Twitter and continue to improve the app's features.
Apparently an official Twitter app was in high demand, and Twitter chose to ...

The much-anticipated Twitter client Tweetie 2.1 has finally arrived on the iPhone. It's the first major update to Tweetie 2, and it features support for Lists, Geotagging and native retweets. One of the most-anticipated changes is the way the app displays retweets, with a small version of the retweeter's icon inset on the original poster's. The "quote tweet" option is still available, so if ...

We've covered iPhone Twitter clients to death here on Download Squad, but we simply couldn't help but post about Tweetie 2.0 which launched just yesterday. If you're not familiar with Tweetie - which won an Apple Design Award earlier in the year for version 1 - it's often touted as the best Twitter client for the iPhone platform, and this new version raises the bar in terms of features and ...

There's been plenty of iPhone Twitter clients released over the last 18 months, however the goldrush to develop for the mobile device has meant the OS X Twitter clients have seen just the arrival of Tweetie in the same time. Today however, naan studio the developers behind the popular Echofon (previously TwitterFon) iPhone client have launched a beta of their forthcoming desktop release. One of ...

The popular Twitter client Tweetie -- available for both Mac and iPhone -- is getting a major overhaul.
Tweetie 2.0 for iPhone is built on the same framework -- dubbed "Bigbird" the Mac version enjoyed, stripped to essentials and updated. The new version also promises a complete offline mode with caching of tweets and the ability to remember exactly where you left off. It also fully supports ...

There are a lot of great Twitter clients for the iPhone, but whether your favorite is Tweetie, Twitterrific, Birdfeed or something else, they're all missing a feature that I find really useful. I'm talking about push notifications, and even the top-shelf Twitter clients don't support them. Although that's likely to change when Twitter finds a workable push solution for developers, an iPhone app ...

One of the hottest Twitter clients on the iPhone just became one of the hottest Twitter clients on the desktop, with the official release of Tweetie for Mac. It's been a trending topic on Twitter all day, and reviews are positive so far. I predicted some of the app's features when the preview video came out a few days ago, but here's a rundown of what it can really do: First, it supports ...
