In news that will no doubt shake the very bedrock of your belief system, Apple has asked Toyota to remove its Scion theme and its advertising from ModMyi, a Cydia repository. The Scion theme has been available for weeks, but after it received a ton of press in the last couple of days, Apple finally lashed out.
It's not like we should be surprised, considering Apple has claimed in the past ...

If you've got a jailbroken iPhone, you can easily remove the annoying new "quick bar" from the official Twitter for iPhone app. A free app called Twizzler does the trick, and it's available in the Cydia store right now. Just install Twizzler, relaunch Twitter, and the quick bar is gone. No fuss necessary.
Now, if only Twitter would add this option to the official app's settings ... ...

Sure, iOS 4.2 and newer versions have AirPrint -- which lets you print from your iDevice to any of the supported printers. However, if you don't own one of the select few models, you're pretty much left without any workable printing support in iOS. That's where TruPrint comes in - if you've decided to step into the dark side and jailbreak your iDevice, that is.
TruPrint supports many more ...

One of the things that, while not broken, but surely ripe for some improvements in future iOS versions, is the notification system. Not the idea itself, which is great, but the way that notifications interrupt anything you're doing and demand your immediate attention -- unless you dismiss them, which means you may never remember that you've received a particular message.
MobileNotifier ...

It's been more than 6 months since Steve Jobs said iPhones would "someday" be able to wirelessly sync with Macs. Apple still hasn't delivered, but a third-party workaround called Wi-FI Sync 2.0 is now in beta. The original Wi-Fi Sync app was released last year, but 2.0 has two important new features: it will auto-detect Macs on your home network, and it offers syncing via 3G. Anyone who purchases ...

Theming on iOS really depends on whether you've jailbroken your device or not. If not, then changing your wallpaper is about as far as customization goes. If you have chosen to step into the 'dark side', then there are many more options for making your iPhone stand out in the crowd. However, up until today, finding worthwhile themes involved searching for them in the Cydia app store, and that ...

Peeved when Apple took your iPad's incredibly useful orientation lock switch and swapped it for an 'alert mute' switch in iOS 4.2? Us too, but now you can reclaim what was once yours with a little jailbreak app called NoMute. Simply turning the Apple decreed mute switch back into an orientation lock switch, NoMute solves this frustrating problem.
Make your iPad side switch useful again -- Get ...

FaceTime, once the privilege of the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch owners only, can now be had, sans Apple's blessing, on the iPhone 3GS. Thanks to the iPhone Islam team (English translation), a jailbroken iOS and Cydia, iPhone 3GS users can now get in on the FaceTime action using FaceIt-3GS. Of course, there's one snag: try as they might, app developers couldn't overcome Apple's ...

Yes, that headline is no mistake! You can indeed install the latest version of Froyo, Android 2.2.1, on a jailbroken iPhone 2 or 3G, and you can do it all without a computer. Redmond Pie has put together a nice step-by-step guide to getting Android on your iPhone with Bootlace 2.1, but in short: it's as simple as installing Bootlace 2.1 from Cydia, running it, and firing up iDroid. The rest is ...

A lot of people have just quickly and legally jailbroken their iPhones through JailbreakMe, but you might not know what's going on in the background when you slide to jailbreak. JailbreakMe takes advantage of a weakness in the way the iPhone handles PDFs, which makes it possible for any site that displays a PDF to run code on your phone. That's a good thing when the code is a jailbreak, but once ...

If you're getting ready to jailbreak your iPhone, now that jailbreaks have been okayed by U.S. courts, you should know that you're still not getting any help from Apple.
The company maintains that whether jailbreaks are legal or not, they can still void the warranty on your iPhone. (As Victor Agreda points out at TUAW, "can void the warranty" doesn't mean it always does. We don't know whether ...

iPad fever seems to have gripped the iNation. If looking at your diminutive iPhone or iPod Touch is getting you down, and you wish you could be stroking a beautiful new iPad, maybe the mod described at Redmond Pie will tide you over.
Modifying the iPhone operating system isn't possible unless you jailbreak your device, but once you do a huge number of possible modifications are available. For this ...

Opened Cydia on your jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone today? If so, you probably noticed an item on the front page about PrivaCy "Opt-Out." Recently there's been a lot of talk about app developers like Pinch Media harvesting analytics from users of their applications. There are plenty of good reasons for them to do this -- such as learning how to make their applications better. Still, some people ...
