Windows Phone 7 copy/paste update pushed to developers
We know that a Windows Phone 7 update is coming soon, and we know it's going to fix some performance issues and bring copy/paste to the Microsoft mobile OS. We also know it's going to plug the Chevron WP7 jailbreak hole. What we don't know for sure is when it's going to be released.
Still, now that the update is in the hands of select Windows Phone 7 developers there's a good chance Microsoft ...
Here's an operation I need to do quite often: copy both the page title and its URL. For some reason, neither Firefox nor Chrome provides a way to do this in one fell swoop. I need to activate the address bar in order to copy the URL, and I'm not even sure there's a way to copy the page title (I usually just type it out manually).
Copy Fixer is an add-on for Firefox and Chrome that provides a ...
Google's newest official Chrome extension is sure to get a lot of use in the coming months. Assuming you've got extension-syncing enabled in a capable version of the browser, Web Clipboard brings a fully synced clipboard to Chrome, and it's pretty nice for an initial -- though somewhat buggy -- release. It copies both plain text and HTML within any Chrome tab, and secures the data on Google ...
Pastefire is an iPhone app I can't believe I wasn't using before this week. Ever wished you could just send some text from your desktop to your iPhone? That's what Pastefire does, and it does it quickly, easily and for free. I read about it in Lifehacker's new Lifehacker Pack for iPhone, decided to give it a try, and now I'm not looking back.
Need to send a recipe to your iPhone or iPad so you ...
Weighing in at a massive 13 kilobytes, PureText is a classic freeware utility; it's tiny, portable (single file), straightforward, does one thing, and it does it well. It lets you copy rich text from a Web page, Word document, or any other source and paste it, clean and devoid of any formatting. It also makes a cute "bong!" sound when it does its job, but you can switch that off.
I can't begin to ...

Now, we've previously covered extensions for both Chrome and Safari 5 that stop Tynt from ruining your copy/paste party, but if you've got administrative rights to whatever computer you're currently using, you can put a stop to more than that. You can block services like Tynt ...
We recently told you about a Chrome extension that blocks Tynt, which is a service that some sites use to add a URL or other text to anything you copy from them. Safari users who dislike Tynt can now block it with an extension of their own. Of course, this will only work in Safari 5, so make sure you've updated to the latest version.
We got an insightful comment on that post from a Tynt VP who ...
If you've ever copied text from a website only to see an annoying "read more" message attached when you paste it, you've probably run across Tynt. Sites like The New Yorker, The San Francisco Chronicle and even TechCrunch use Tynt to add analytics links to your clipboard when you copy text, so they can tell site owners what their readers are copying.

Our sister site, the adorable and trustworthy Engadget, has "super-double-ultra-plus-confirmed" with Microsoft that Windows Phone 7 will not launch with copy and paste functionality. Why on earth would an impressive next-gen mobile OS not include a clipboard? It seems like only yesterday that we were all making fun of the iPhone for that same shortcoming.
Microsoft's answer is that users don't ...
Shadow is a clipboard utility for OS X. Nothing special about that, right? I mean, we covered a whole slew of good ones back in January. Hold on a minute, though, because Shadow puts a new twist on the classic clipboard-enhancement app: it lets you copy and paste across your network. That's right: Shadow uses Bonjour to let you use your clipboard across all your networked Macs. It has a lot of ...
