With more than 190 million users, and less than half of those using Twitter.com to post updates, the installed Twitter client market is massive. There are literally hundreds of Twitter clients spanning every desktop and mobile platform, and even a few cross-platform Web apps thrown into the mix.
Even if you narrow down the search to just one platform -- Windows -- there's still a dizzying ...

Adobe has just released an update for its Adobe AIR runtime for Android bringing it to version 2.6. The update adds support for Android 3.0 Gingerbread, meaning AIR on tablets like the Motorola Xoom is a go, plus a series of performance improvements.
Highlights include up to 20% faster scrolling, H.264 video decoding at 30FPS, and GPU-accelerated animation or gaming at up to 50FPS. Greater ...

Created by a computer scientist at Adobe, Facebook Desktop does exactly what it says on the tin, for both Windows and Mac PCs. It links into your Facebook account and notifies you of every change to your account -- pokes, messages, friend requests, event invites, etc. -- with a little pop-up toast window on your desktop. The notifications appear in the bottom right of your screen whether you like ...

Yesterday's session of the MAX 2010 conference saw the announcement of the latest iteration to AIR, Adobe's desktop runtime for HTML, Ajax, Flex, and (of course) Flash. AIR 2.5 brings greater device support with it, covering smartphones and tablets running BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android and iOS; Windows, OS X and Linux on the desktop; and TVs, with Samsung the first to jump on-board the AIR ...

It might not be as sexy as the upcoming User Streams version of TweetDeck, but TweetDeck Desktop just got an update with bug fixes and several small-but-useful new features. Here's what's new in version 0.35:
If you care about Trending Topics, you'll be glad to know that those are included, filtered by country, and armed with trend explanations from WhatTheTrend.com. Users who cross-post to ...

If you've been waiting to check out the latest version of TweetDeck, which displays Twitter streams in real time, now's your chance. Although the first sneak-peek was only available to a handful of people, the TweetDeck User Streams preview has now opened to everyone.
Twitter has apparently decided that the new Users Streams API is stable enough and the Twitter servers are ready to handle the ...

Did you know that color blindness is surprisingly common -- if you're male, anyway. You know how men are 'XY' and women are 'XX'? That little 'missing leg' in the male Y chromosome supplies women with redundant genes for eyesight. Yes, men are genetically weaker than women -- cool huh?
Anyway, if you're a Web developer, or merely curious as to how the Web looks to color blind people, check out ...

Adobe has announced that Flash Player 10.1 and Air 2.0 for Android are currently in private beta, with public beta versions coming soon. There's no official word on exactly how soon, but it can't be long now. In fact, there's already a signup to be notified when the Flash and Air betas open up.
Adobe blogger Lee Brimelow, famous for telling Apple to "go screw itself," is excited about the ...

Adobe has announced that Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR are both coming to smartphones, starting with devices running Google's Android operating system.
We've been expecting to see Flash Player 10.1 for a while, but it looks like it should be coming pretty soon. A beta version has already ...

![Adobe Air 2 goes beta, adds tons of new features, sucks a whole lot less]()
We've had a love-hate relationship with Adobe Air since it arrived on our desktops. Ram-hungry apps had us seeing red. Still, a few killer apps helped drive adoption - apps like TweetDeck, Times Reader 2.0, and DeskTube. As Air continued to develop, it got leaner and meaner and now version 2 has arrived in beta. Adobe Air 2 is now here, and it's ready to get down to business.
Air 2 features a ...

If you use Adobe AIR apps on a regular basis, you have a lot to look forward to in AIR 2.0. The next version of Adobe's cross-platform app framework adds a bunch of little tweaks and a few major ones, including support for multitouch and gestures. Maybe even more importantly, AIR apps now won't suck up your CPU cycles and memory at such an absurd rate. A full list of upcoming features was just ...

With Google Voice now able to take over the voicemail from your mobile number, there are more reasons than ever to keep your Google Voice messages close at hand. There's cross-platform Google Voice desktop app that does just that, giving you quick desktop access to your voicemail and SMS messages. The desktop app's features are very basic: just your inbox and contacts, in a compact layout. It's ...

Damn you, Grooveshark! I've been doing just fine without any Adobe Air applications installed on my system. But you come along and release a standalone interface, and now I'm hooked.
As Sebastien reported with Waver, the Grooveshark Air app seems to be a bit more smooth and responsive than the browser-based version. Whatever the reason, as a guy that runs on unstable, developer-channel ...

Seesmic, a cross-platform social networking client that connects with Twitter and Facebook, just released a new version, 0.6, that adds the ability to read, manage, like and comment on Facebook Pages. It's nice that Seesmic keeps adding more features, but it's already a bit of a bloated memory hog, and I hope it trims down a bit before it hits version 1.0. It gobbled up nearly 200mb of ram on my ...

TweetDeck's homepage now proudly proclaims "Bring your friends closer with Facebook and MySpace." Yes, it's true. Now you can see updates from both of your friends who are still on MySpace right in TweetDeck. On a related note, NewEgg is running a nice Hanns-G 28" monitor for $309, which you'll probably need to in order to fit all your damn columns on a single screen at this point. On to more ...
