Nov 29th 2005 5:33PM I think the Vegas vs. Premiere decision should break down to whether your skills and interest in video editing are "video-centric" or "audio-centric". For example, if you're used to audio editors and want to produce a music video, you might want to use Vegas. If you're not as much into the music/sound side (or intend to use a separate package to mix, mess around with your sound) and are more biased toward video, you probably want to use Premiere instead. Avid seems to be for those who work as editors professionally. You just have to use it. FCP -- got the money and are doing an HD production, or an indie film where you shot footage on 16 or 35mm? FCP is the way to go. If you are an indie filmmaker on a budget, and/or already comfortable with the Windows PC world and customizing your PC box, Premiere is the way to go.

I bet the reason why there are "studies" which claim the opposite is because the grains, dairy and sugar industries, which are huge in America, are the ones who have been presenting their own findings. Teenagers would stop eating food products that contain white flour, white sugar and dairy if the truth ever got out. Think about how much food, especially candies and snacks, which contain at least one of these three ingredients. Finely milled white flour and white sugar are probably the main culprits. This stuff gets absorbed very readily into one's bloodstream and feeds acne bacteria residing in the skin. (They are probably also a major contributing factor with diabetes.) Instead of white flour, use natural sugar or honey. Eat whole grain bread instead. But overall, cut bak on foods with sugar, grains and dairy and you'll see a massive improvement in your complexion.

Ban on Smoking Good for Restaurants (Slashfood)

Nov 24th 2005 9:53AM Get new, non-smoking friends. :) I think the argument that smoking bans will drive down business falicious. Smokers are afraid to admit that the bans may actually encourage non-smokers to go out to eat knowing that they won't have to put up with second-hand smoke. For most restaurants, there are probably more potential non-smoker patrons than there are smoking patrons.

Nov 24th 2005 2:28AM FINALLY. It seems like the anti-spyware and anti-virus developers were all scared for some reason to release updates that totally removed the rootkit. Really pathetic that all of them seemed to be scared of Sony, including Microsoft, until now. This should have happened WEEKS ago, people.

Nov 11th 2005 6:12PM All of this hassle that Sony has been creating makes for bad public relations in the mind of your average Joe and Jane Best Buyer. They continue to hear stuff like this ("Sony infects computers with spyware" is what they hear, even if this isn't totally true), and will decide not to buy Sony products. There are tons of other electronics companies (Samsung, Canon, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Apple, etc.) who make products that are just as good, if not better.
