MSI unleashes drool-worthy press shots of the Wind (Engadget)

Apr 25th 2008 5:10PM Is it just me or does it only have a single button under the trackpad?

Should software be native or web-based? (Download Squad)

Apr 7th 2008 11:14AM I want a hybrid.

I like my apps being native, but my data being web-based. Much like my email, I have a simple web-interface to access it when I'm not at my computer. Otherwise I use a desktop client to do the heavy lifting.

I want to use all the features of my word processor but I want to access that data from another computer in case I forget something. A simpler web interface will allow me to do notes/jots when I need it quickly.

I want my address book to be web-based and integrated into all my apps (phone, email, scheduling, documents, chat, and video conferencing)

I don't want to own hardware, I want to rent desktop software, and I want to have web-based access. I will pay for the data storage, privacy, and reliability.

The hundred gadget giveaway, grand prize round: unlocked iPhone (4GB) (Engadget Mobile)

Sep 14th 2007 11:22PM 4 GB unlocked... very nice. And as an ATT customer, easy to "go legit" too.

Apple announces iPod Touch: iPhone without the phone (TUAW.com)

Sep 5th 2007 2:43PM I wonder if the iTunes Wi-Fi will also download podcasts for me. If that's the case, I may transfer all my files to it and not use iTunes on my desktop.

Remote controlled VS Tanks engage in small-scale warfare (Engadget)

Jul 1st 2007 4:23PM Does anyone know what/where to get those CD interlocking joints? That's just perfect for an RC car/tank obstacle course for the kids (and me).

May 30th 2007 3:13PM With the built in Wi-Fi this could be a great email - simple web terminal for home use. No need to boot up a laptop to check a couple websites.

Without a built in media slot, I presume all software updates and installable applications are going to have to be through the phone interface.

Will the OLPC interface ruin computing for millions of kids? (Download Squad)

Nov 25th 2006 12:06PM I don't think it will ruin computing for children, it will just make it harder.

The keyboard-mouse-pointer interface is completely new and probably very foreign to the children. It doesn't mimic anything in the real world they can relate to. That's a big reason why "folders", "desktop", "trash can" were used.

Do these children have the same?
Wouldn't it be better to have it all be pen/stylus based and look more like book or piece of paper?

I look at the icons and they don't make sense to me.Maybe it can be customized for each location
to match a common visual element. Who knows. I continue to applaud the idea and until the first pilot rollout (or any kind of real-world testing) is successful, I will continue to have doubts.

Aug 16th 2006 2:51PM 16. Olympia Soundbug

I have a huge window next to my desk. I would like to remove the desktop speakers of the table and get back the precious work surface. Going down from three cables (speaker to computer, speaker to speaker, speaker to power) to one cables (bug to computer) is a step in the right direction. Not to mention bragging rights and potential sex appeal.
