Is the AirPort Extreme worth the price? (TUAW.com)
Apr 4th 2011 5:42PM Yulp - lack of QOS control means I had to find a non-Apple product. Wish my AEX had handled VOIP better than it did.
MacBook Air projected to earn $2.2 billion per year (TUAW.com)
Apr 4th 2011 5:41PM I *love* my Macbook Air - at $950 shipped/zero tax from Amazon, it was a no brainer. For someone who needs OS X in the smallest form factor, the 11 inch is a dream. I've built multiple websites, written countless docs, worked on RAW files in PS CS3, run XP in Parallels, and watched HD movies/TV via Plex on the plane - all with this little wonder.
And I'm addicted to the size - with the Air in one hand and my iPad in another, it's hard to tell which one weighs more. Home f'ing run on Apple's part, as far as this customer is concerned!
Is the AirPort Extreme worth the price? (TUAW.com)
Apr 4th 2011 12:20PM I've been using AEXs for years (most recent version was the first Gigabit) and they *are* rock solid on my home network. It always irritated me that they only offered three ethernet ports when literally every competitor offers four (or eight). But that was a small problem easily fixed by attaching an external switch.
However, I finally got tired of the AEX's shoddy handling of my VOIP calls. They echoed, were delayed, and sometime didn't even ring. Research showed this was due to the AEX's lack of control over QOS settings and people in similar situations chose to walk away from Apple routers.
I ended up buying a DIR-655 and haven't looked back. My VOIP calls are now "real time" and crystal clear with no change beyond the router. Keep this all in mind if you use your router in a VOIP chain. I'd still buy Apple routers if I didn't have this requirement.
And, finally, another great feature of any Airport Express unit - they hold their resale value. Mine went for $120 on Amazon in less than an hour!
Final Draft coming for iPhone and iPad in Spring 2011 (TUAW.com)
Jan 27th 2011 3:25PM They'd be crazy to go above $9.99 - just ask the folks at Save The Cat that prices out around $20. Veeeeeeery few takers at that price point.

That blunder just sent me off to buy Websnapper!
TUAW's Daily App: Weather HD for iPhone (TUAW.com)
Sep 30th 2010 2:17PM @ Mark: Outside of having this info on a lock screen - what are you talking about? This app was never available in the JB community as a standalone. You could only get similar functionality theming up Winterboard.
I love jailbreaking as much as the next iPhone user but this just ain't true.
TUAW's Daily App: Weather HD for iPhone (TUAW.com)
Sep 30th 2010 2:15PM Eh... World Weather offers close to the same functionality and clocks in at 3 MB. Plus, their info is presently in a much cleaner fashion.
Weather HD is cool on iPads when they're docked. But they stretched and missed with the iPhone version.

Jul 26th 2010 2:52PM Anyone know how to get this effect from a 3GS? I love Hockey's collages that look like this and would love to find a way to pull them off without a gyroscope.
