Microsoft Office 2011 SP1 for Mac arriving next week with Outlook improvements (Download Squad)

Apr 8th 2011 1:47AM Still no Google Calendar or CalDAV sync? Really? Still? I'll pass. It' not 2004 anymore.

10+ Chrome extensions and Web apps for new users (Download Squad)

Feb 23rd 2011 1:01AM @MxxCon Because XMarks is cross-browser, whereas Chrome sync is, well, Chrome only.

AppBrain direct push-to-device app installation returns, emasculates Google's Android Market (Download Squad)

Feb 9th 2011 1:31AM @Don S
No, it's greatest strength was it's incredibly effective app discovery and aggregation capability, advanced filters, ratings aggregation, and the list goes on. The only advantage that the Android Market has over AB is the ability to install paid apps.
It's rather short sighted to ignore all of the other great features that AB has to offer. And I couldn't care less about mass install.

Google disables internal PDF plug-in in Chrome dev channel update (Download Squad)

Jul 30th 2010 11:26PM This was most likely done because the pdf plugin simply did not work on Mac or Linux machines. It would display a blank window with "Missing Plugin" displayed in the center. I love seeing how responsive the Chrome devs are to these sorts of issues.

Google Chrome dev update turns on PDF plug-in, Web Store makes an appearance (Download Squad)

Jul 26th 2010 6:27PM I get the same problem with the pdf plugin on a Mac--blank page with "Missing Plugin" message in the middle.

Rumor: iTunes still heading to the clouds (TUAW.com)

Jul 2nd 2010 3:42AM While I'm certainly interested in this "iTunes in the clouds" concept, I'm far more thrilled to finally see a non-iPhone, non-iPad, non-iOS4 related post. 1 out of the last 54, and the 2nd out of about 75. Ridiculous. Perhaps TUAW should change their name to TUIPW (The Unofficial iPhone/Pad Weblog).
Even the purported iPhone-free/iPad-free RSS feed gets contaminated with this stuff quite frequently.

TUAW Giveaway: Henge Docks for MacBook / MacBook Pro (TUAW.com)

May 11th 2010 8:59PM I'll use it to connect to my 50" HDTV.

iPad: Will it blend? (TUAW.com)

Apr 6th 2010 1:01AM No, bad taste is using the word "retarded"--how ridiculously insensitive to those with friends and/or family members with a mental handicap.
And it wasn't wasteful--as Jarrod Henry pointed out, this was a fantastic use of about $500 of marketing money for his product. The "Will It Blend" vids are fascinating case studies in successful viral online marketing.
And can you tell me, honestly, that you are a zero-waste person? Seriously, analyze every thing that goes into your trash can. Think about it.
bigdaddy_ga, how is blending kittens the next logical step? Hm? It wasn't your iPad, so get over it. It's a genius marketing gimmick, nothing more. Stop being so melodramatic.

Ask TUAW: Apple TV, Blu-ray on the Mac, solving SIMBL problems, and more (TUAW.com)

Oct 10th 2008 7:20PM Is there a menu bar item that will pop down a terminal emulator, preferably with a hot-key? I've tried Visor, but it's been a bit buggy for me.
All I need is something that stays resident in the menu bar that drops down a small terminal menu to quickly execute basic commands.

Time Waster: U Can Beez a LOLCATZ with LOL Feeds (Download Squad)

Jun 23rd 2008 7:30PM This is pretty dumb--it would be cool if it translated the feeds into lolcat speek, but it doesn't. Dumb.
