Avast, ye scurvy bilge rat! It's Pirate Insult Generator for webOS (Download Squad)

Sep 9th 2010 12:35PM This is a nifty idea, but Lucasarts already created one of these twenty years ago.

Rumor: Internal Best Buy memo confirms Wii price cut this Sunday [update] (Joystiq)

Sep 23rd 2009 11:47PM The term "solution" is pure Best Buy speak. The "complete solution" is basically the item of interest along with a bundle of accessories that the customer may or may not need just for the sake of pushing up margin dollar earnings.

So, in the Wii's case, we're talking the Wii, three more Wiimotes, three nunchucks, at least two or three games, and virtually every other ridiculous add-on that's out for that hunk of white plastic.

Rumor: Internal Best Buy memo confirms Wii price cut this Sunday [update] (Joystiq)

Sep 23rd 2009 11:45PM Is there a reason that you're focusing on some sort of B.S. morality here?

Might as well be consistent since we're also talking about a company that needs a few slaps on the hand, as well.

Not sure if you read the posts (up) about the "bundle bands," but Best Buy is known for deliberately lying to their customers in order to make more money this way. I should know. I used to work there.

Fallout 3 increases global distribution; more will feel Atom's glow (Joystiq)

Dec 29th 2008 2:04PM To say that Fallout 3 isn't an RPG is daft, to say the least. If you've ever played the previous Fallout games, you would know that not only are they very story driven, but they promote making choices that affect the rest of the game, therefore promoting actual role play. Fallout 3 is no different. It just has a different camera angle and guns, which seems to be something typical "RPG" players fear.

If we're going to use actual RPG elements, look at tabletop games like D&D and GURPS (the system in which Fallout was originally using). People seem to forget that pencil-and-paper games were the foundation that started the digital RPG in the first place, but instead, if the game doesn't feature a Cloud-like character or isn't made by Blizzard, it's not an RPG. Those who don't view Fallout as an RPG have completely missed the entire point of the game.

Valve may show Half-Life 2: Episode Three this year; release still a ways off (Joystiq)

Oct 15th 2008 2:10AM Not to get off topic, but having to wait a year or so for the next Half-Life game isn't as bad as the bollocks Blizzard is trying to pass off to consumers involving StarCraft II and Diablo 3.

I'd rather wait a while for a quality game than spend $150 on essentially one game within a three-year time span, plus waiting another year for D3, AND having to pay for Battle.net.

Valve is pretty much the only untainted source for quality gaming out there. The Valve catalog has been keeping me busy in between releases and will continue to do so.

Wii Warm Up: But is it Mega? (Joystiq Nintendo)

Sep 26th 2008 8:33AM I bought it the night it came out and I must say that it met every expectation I had for it, including an insane level of difficulty. Luckily, I'm not foreign to the wonderful 8-bit genre of gaming (I still own an NES among my vast collection of games and systems), so I went into the new Mega Man knowing that there was no way I could finish it anytime soon. In fact, I've only passed through one stage. Haha! Despite the brutal nature of the game wanting me dead at all times, this is one of my favorite new games. Hopefully, I'll be able to complete the game before I retire.
