Final Cut Pro X announced at NAB SuperMeet (TUAW.com)

Apr 13th 2011 7:40AM The jump from 7 to X reminds me of the same jump in Quicktime... you know, the one that removed helpful functionality (exporting and converting), made existing functionality harder to use (play controls that obscure the picture, even though there is tons of screen real estate for them to live) and required Apple to leave the old version available in the utilities folder. There are so many many unanswered questions about "FCPX" that will affect our facilities ability to upgrade (we have 15 Final Cut systems) - Backward compatibility with our many existing projects? EDLs? Pulldown? How is different frame rate media in the same timeline dealt with? Is it finally scriptable via Python, or Applescript, or anything? Can you finally do any useful animation within the software? I could keep going. Aside from 64 bit, background rendering, and better ways of keeping things in sync as you edit, I couldn't see anything that actually addresses shortcomings in the software. I'm not sure having a source viewer was so burdensome that it needed to be tossed out, and I really hope that no-click dragging over the source media doesn't scrub the video a la iMovie, that's really annoying.

Aug 2nd 2007 9:30AM This is not only really wrong, but really horrible Photoshop work. It's like the black velvet painting of the digital age. Actually, that's an insult to black velvet artists...at least they could paint.

You can't compare this with simply colorizing a black & white photo. They performing virtual plastic surgery here, moving the eyes and warping features and whatnot.

Sad on so many levels.
