PS3 3.0 / 3.01 firmware update making Blu-ray drive unusable? (Engadget)

Oct 5th 2009 11:52AM Make that 1 more with the 3.0 / 3.0.1 update problem; BluRay discs not playing; some games play but eventually crash when they need to heavily read from disc.

There are far too many people having immediate BluRay Disc related problems after these updates for it to be circumstantial --- I'm 99.9% convinced if I was able to reinstate the 2.8 FW, BluRay Movies & Games would play again.

Come on SONY; bring out a rollback 2.8 or rename it as 3.0.2 --- my PS is still under warranty, but I don't really want to send it back yet, for something that is almost certainly a firmware problem.

80029906 and 80029941 are related error codes when the drive cannot read from disc.
