Poll: MacBook keyboard problems, anyone? (Engadget)

Dec 16th 2007 5:14PM Never heard of these problems. Between my friends & my office, we have about 12 macbook pros. No problems to report here.

Riding off into the sunset... (DV Guru)

Feb 1st 2007 1:45AM Sorry to hear about this! I'm a BIG fan of DVGuru - there's pretty much nothing else like it out there. Best of luck in your individual efforts.

I'm a PC, and I'm a Mac. And I'm a Vaio? (Engadget)

Dec 4th 2006 12:11PM I've owned one of these so-called "cute" Sony laptops... and everything I know and liked about the Sony brand went right out the window. It looked great, but I've never had such a poor piece of computer equipment. Practically everything broke, one after the other between 12 and 18 months. First it was the screen, then the CDR drive, then the ram went bad and finally the power adapter. I eventually had to scrap it because the power adapter could no longer power the machine! To replace the plug, I had to replace the entire motherboard.

I've had other PC notebooks since that perform much better than this VAIO. As nice as they look I'll never buy or recommend another VAIO. At work I have an Intel MacBook Pro and it is by far the best built notebook I've ever had.

Make your own iPod nano ad (DV Guru)

Oct 18th 2006 3:00PM Looks interesting. I'll have to pick up a copy of Trapcode's Particular plugin to follow this along.

The Affordable Portable Soundproofing Solution (DV Guru)

Oct 13th 2006 2:00PM "90% noise reduction efficiency"

What exactly does that mean? I'm not familiar with the term "noise reduction efficiency." At what distance & under what conditions?! It sounds a bit like marketing speak to me and probably makes the casual reader think that 90% of the sound played into it will be "deadened."

From the amount of open space around this enclosure, you'd have a hard time selling me on how sound _proof_ it could really be...
You don't really get true sound proofing with freeflowing air.

First official RED footage hits the web (DV Guru)

Oct 3rd 2006 1:43PM Hmm... what can I say... wow?! It was really strange actually, it was hard to tell that the film wasn't just a really high quality render. It was that smooth & clean. I'd love to see human footage in more real-world conditions... but as a teaser - wow.

Lite-On announces 18x Lightscribe DVD burner (Engadget)

Sep 28th 2006 2:00PM I've had great luck w/ lightscribe cdr/dvdr.

I'm not sure how fast mine is, but it burns a "normal" quality in about 15 minutes depending on the artwork. It goes a long way to making a simple CDR not look amateur-hourish.

Every time I've given anyone a lightscribe disk, the reaction has always been "wow!" That's a very good thing imo.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of these out in the wild.
