SingStar: May 20th release in US (Joystiq Playstation)
Apr 25th 2008 1:29PM It's just not the same as Rock Band. That only tells me that you've never played singstar. I've played both extensively, and it's a totally different vibe each game has going on. Singstar is more fun at a drunk late night party when you've got eight people sharing two mikes crooning to Britney Spears' "hit me baby one more time" than a game of rockband would be. And rock band is great. You can sort of think of it as different classes of cars. Singstar is nice convertible for a fun cruise and Rock Band is the Hardass italian supercar. both fun, just different kinds of it.
at least i think so.
Also, I hope they get those bluetooth mics working soon. That was part of the thing that got me looking forward to this so much. even so, I'll just be the first to say FINALLY. they better not push it back again, or i might just cry.
Sonic Unleashed is really real (Joystiq Playstation)
Apr 3rd 2008 8:42PM Sonic is dead to me until they stop calling him eggman and start calling him robotnik again.
It's as if they took bowser and after supermario world decided to start calling him tortoiseman, or if cortex became bigheadman after the third crash bandicoot. Sorry, not buying it.
Also, Crash bandicoot was 3d platforming done right. Why is it so hard for sega to do something like that? That game is ten years old, and it's what Sonic Team should try if they want platforming in 3D done right. We don't need anymore of this 'Hold right to win!' garbage. we need genuine a genuine platforming and exploring experience. It's sad to say, but somewhere along the line, Sonic Team itself bought into the false idea that sonic was all about OMGSPEED and completely forgot about how the Genesis games were EXCELLENT platforming games, with bursts of speed thrown in here and there. There was definitely no 'hold right to win' thing going on in those.
Bah. I have little faith in Sonic Team, especially not since Yuji Naka left.
Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of September 30 (Joystiq Playstation)
Sep 30th 2007 2:07PM I haven't purchased a basketball game since NBA Live 2000, a whole 8 years ago. I remember it was pretty fun. If, say, I'm looking to get a Bball game this time around, which of these 3 would you guys recommend?
Goodbye, Emotion Engine, you were quite useful (Joystiq Playstation)
Jul 9th 2007 8:50PM personally, I'm very pleased that I got my PS3 at launch and that it has the EE inside, because I'm one of the (probably few) people that bought a PS3 without ever having a PS2. So for me, I really do want the increased compatibility of the EE PS3, because it's like both PS2 and PS3 games are new to me.
I think it's like Andy said some posts up, they put it in there mainly for early adopters, because they were more likely to care about increased backwards compatibility than those who weren't really ready to make the purchase.
Confirmed: $100 price drop, new 80GB PS3 coming August (Joystiq Playstation)
Jul 8th 2007 11:01PM If the 60GB version remains unchanged, I cannot see this selling at all. I wouldn't think anyone would see more percieved value with this than with the 60gig model, especially considering hard drives are user replaceable and dropping in price all the time. (hint: the 60gig is more 'worth it'),
Unless you really, really want motorstorm, I guess.
Rumor: Circuit City ads for post-E3 shows $100 price cut on the PS3 (Joystiq Playstation)
Jul 6th 2007 1:23AM I'm so glad that I got my PS3 new, unopened with an extra hdmi cable for 495. Some guy apparently bought it but then got a job promotion and could never find the time to get around to opening it. Thus he sold it to me. Thus, I welcome this price cut, and certainly hope it means a bigger console uptake. The more the merrier, as they say. Plus, there need to be more people on the PSN. :D
Developer's Studio: Sarah Stocker and Singstar (Joystiq Playstation)
Jul 6th 2007 1:17AM I'll be the first to say that I am eagerly anticipating this. The two on the PS2 are a blast to play, but there's too few really good songs. Out of thirty on each disc, maybe half. They're all fun to play, but some of them are just terrible (like SOS on Singstar POP, or the song by Joss Stone on Singstar ROCKS.)
also looking forward to the wireless mics. No more will be the days of tripping over the cords while jamming.
This and Rock Band plus the other big titles coming out are making it a very good time to be a PS3 owner.
Turn audiobooks into Audiobooks (TUAW.com)
Feb 2nd 2007 1:57AM Well, I for one am very greatful for this advice. Audiobook builder sounds great and all, but seriously, why pay ten dollars when this method is fast, free, and painless?
iSale 4 brings major eBay auction upgrades (TUAW.com)
Jan 31st 2007 11:31PM So, anything as good looking as this for those of us stuck on PCs half the day?
New Adobe CS3 Icon Contest (TUAW.com)
Jan 31st 2007 11:29PM I for one love the new icons. As with most things on the internet, most of the complaints are coming from a small, vocal minority. As with most things, people only say anything when they don't like something. I believe this whole thing is blown out of proportion really, and I commend Adobe to sticking to their guns in the light of all the whiners and moaners out there.
