The Vista startup sound: You can't turn it off (Download Squad)
Aug 28th 2006 7:08AM I go to a big university (UMass Amherst) with 500 person classes, in which probably 20% of people have laptops. Imagine the professor's frustration at sitting through the startup noise of 100 different computers at the beginning of every class.
Facebook adds blogging feature (Download Squad)
Aug 23rd 2006 7:05AM I don't think there's anything wrong with adding features that are in common with MySpace, as long as they're done well. And from what I can tell, the Facebook notes/blog feature is done well. They give you the option to automatically synch with your LiveJournal, and the appearance is very simple and easy on the eyes. It seems to me like they're interested in taking the badly executed ideas of MySpace and doing them right.

Dec 14th 2005 4:30PM It sounds like a legitimate suggestion to me. There will always be people that suggest that saying something is good must mean the person is getting paid. Most of us don't think this though, so ignore the idiots.
Could aliens use SETI@home to take over Earth's computers? (Download Squad)
Nov 27th 2005 4:42PM Even though Macs and PCs can barely communicate with one another, I'm sure aliens will have no trouble writing malicious code that is compatible with our systems.
Can IE7 kill Firefox? (Download Squad)
Sep 15th 2005 5:53PM People are looking at this from the wrong angle. I HOPE IE7 is as good as Firefox. The only reason we love using Firefox instead of IE is cuz IE sucks (besides the few people who just love hating Microsoft). If IE is as good as Firefox, the problem is solved.
Microsoft Patents Smart Playlists (Download Squad)
Sep 8th 2005 10:27AM Does this mean that Apple is going to have to remove smart playlists from iTunes?
Ask Download Squad: Google - good or evil? (Download Squad)
Aug 27th 2005 8:25PM Companies are not evil (except for a few exceptions in which the heads of the company have malicious intent, such as Enron). The point of a company (unless it's non-profit) is to make money, and hopefully make a good, useful product. Google is doing both. Stop complaining.
