Ford to swap out spark plugs for lasers, windshields for googly eyes (Engadget)

Jul 17th 2009 2:43PM This sounds like a great idea for Mazda's rotary engines that are terribly inefficient.

Nov 19th 2007 1:47PM I use FreeNAS on an old machine with three 'similar' drives (they don't all need to be the identical for software RAID) with RSYNC enabled and then RSnapShot on my Windows box for a 'full' daily snapshot of my harddrive. They are both free OSS and work beautifully. You can also configure it to SSH to an offsite location at a friend's or relative's house.

UK Toyota dealer preps one-off "Dream Prius" (Autoblog Green)

May 3rd 2007 1:29PM I was simply poking fun at the "tree huggers". I personally would love to have a Prius because I'm a tech/gadget nut but would never ever purchase one because of the stigma of being a HYBRID owner.

Yahoo! launches new home page (Download Squad)

May 16th 2006 3:47PM I've been seeing Yahoo's revamped web page intermittently at startup using Opera for sometime now, but thought that it was just a glitch. Looks like they were just testing it and I was just one of the lucky few. But now it doesn't support Opera...yet nor Firefox 2.

Mar 16th 2006 1:39PM Can you say HYDROGEN fuel cell?

•it's clean burning
•it's exhaust is WATER (hmmm, recycling?)
•water as exhaust!?!... that would mean one less
fuel to carry (or at least, less of it)
•alloy cylinder/heads wan't rust
•run with BMW's exhaust heat recover idea to
generate electricity with turbines to:
a)charge the hybrid's battery
or...
b)re-produce the hydrogen from the expelled water
(quick, remember chemistry class: ? = H2O)
or...
c)distill the water for reuse

As for heating the car in winter, hybrids already have an alternate heat source (mini electric heat pumps maybe). Antifreeze could be added though I'm not sure how that would affect the vaporization temps.

...but that's just my two cents.
