Apple finally lets you check out iTunes store without installing iTunes (Download Squad)
Nov 13th 2009 4:45PM Maybe it's me, but my first thought was that the sole reason Apple is doing this is to capitalize on search traffic. Amazon's MP3 store had a leg up on people searching Google for song titles. Now, it's closer to equal.
Congressman: BCS 'Like Communism' (Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog)
May 2nd 2009 2:58PM Well, the BCS consists mostly of public institutions involved in a billion dollar industry -- I can see why the government feels entitled to poke around.

Apr 23rd 2009 1:44PM You're the first person I've ever encountered who thinks spending a couple years in Europe will make someone more close-minded.

Apr 23rd 2009 1:38PM "Make no mistake: he's going to Europe to make money and get around the college eligibility issue. And by encouraging it we're encouraging another Michael Vick."
Michael Vick spent three years in college. Your argument makes no sense.
And your argument that MLB players are somehow more law-abiding than other athletes is flat-out wrong. See: Matt Bush, Jim Leyritz, Joba, Elijah Dukes, Brian Giles, Ambiorix Burgos, Ugueth Urbina -- even golden boy Cole Hamels broke his pitching hand in a bar fight a few years back. Young men with money make mistakes -- it's not limited to a particular sport or ethnicity.

Apr 23rd 2009 4:17AM Couldn't he suffer that career-ending injury in college, too? Except this way he gets to bank a few hundred thousand in the process, certainly enough to stash some aside for tuition. If this was any profession aside from sports, no one would argue, so why the double standard?
Derrick Rose Wins Rookie of the Year (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Apr 22nd 2009 6:15PM I said he doesn't have a reliable "outside shot," and it's true. He's a career .285 shooter from three-point land, and his .317 mark this year was a career-high. The fact that he attempted 278 three-pointers this year (199 more than his previous career high) is a little mind-boggling considering how inefficient he was. I'd build a team around him any day of the week, but there's a reason why Miami has always tried to keep a roster spot open for the likes of Kapono or Damon Jones or James Jones or Daequan Cook.
The Detroit News Needs to Explain Iverson Allegations (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Apr 21st 2009 4:24PM "To be fair, I doubt perspective GM's are reading McCosky for their scouting info..."
This is true, but marquee free agent signings are as much about public relations (ie, what will the season ticket holders think?) than actual facts. And since the only thing AI really has going for him is his so-called star appeal (he's too old to build a team around, and apparently unwilling to play a supporting role), bad PR might cost him opportunities.
Carl Landry Is Already Back in Action (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Apr 8th 2009 3:38PM This is why I usually don't post early in the morning. Fixed.
Is Rasheed Wallace Done in Detroit? (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Feb 26th 2009 7:07PM The NBA informed the Pistons that they rescinded technicals from a game in December and a game in January -- it did NOT rescind the techs from Wednesday.
Either way it doesn't really matter -- he still has 14 on the season -- but it's not like the NBA came out and announced that Rasheed was actually in the right last night.
