Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is maximizing efficiency (Joystiq)

May 8th 2011 5:27AM @sonicspike41 Doesn't even have to be a decent gaming PC. My 4 year old laptop can run portal on high settings. Basically, anyone can play portal now, and everyone should have played portal by now.

Found Footage: MacOSXTutorials explores Mac Dropbox tips (TUAW.com)

Sep 1st 2010 4:22PM I use it to be able to remotely lock my computer, in case it is stolen.

Using folder actions, I have an Automator script that runs when I drop a file into a dropbox folder.

It runs a Keynote presentation (showing a blue screen of death :-P), while a photograph is taken and uploaded with the iSight. The computer then logs out, so that a password is required to use it.

It works quite well.

Do you love or hate Safari 5's 'smarter' address bar? (TUAW.com)

Aug 29th 2010 2:28PM I have used Chrome since it came out for mac. I tried to go back for Safari 5, ( I really like the reader function) but I couldn't get used to having a separate address/search box. I kept typing searches into the address bar. It is small things like the Omnibar that makes Chrome the better browser.

Aug 13th 2010 6:34PM They are past achievements however. I'm a celebrity and X Factor are good examples of the crap they show nowadays.

Aug 11th 2010 2:07AM It isn't a college. Colleges are different things to universities in the UK.

Amazon Kindle DX Graphite review (Engadget)

Aug 10th 2010 3:21AM @joelaf

The Sony Readers aren't locked down, in fact they support ePub, which most ebook stores use, unlike the kindle, which can only use the Amazon store.

I do agree that they are the losers though, they haven't kept up on price, or features, or design. I can't ever see them beating Amazon at this point.

Racespresso racing helmet / espresso machine might've been Top Gear's The Stig, after all (Engadget)

Aug 6th 2010 5:08AM @Arcticpenguins One car is literally a drop in the ocean (If you will excuse the pun). Transport ships drop their cargo all the time, in storms the containers on top can be jettisoned.

In fact, a car is probably not that bad a thing to drop in the ocean, they had stripped out most of the plastic, so the rest would quickly rust away.

Volkswagen Beetle converted to run on methane headed for the UK streets (Engadget)

Aug 5th 2010 2:32PM @nefnet13 It burns methane, the colourless, odourless gas, not untreated crap.

Apple issues Magic Trackpad drivers for OS X and Windows, updates MacBooks with new gesture support (Engadget)

Jul 27th 2010 6:00PM @shishi Congratulations on your purchasing decisions, and your need to validate them by posting about them on the internet. I will inform the Nobel committee at once, I am sure they will have $1000000 and some kind of prize for you!

Breeze: another fresh take on window management (TUAW.com)

Jul 25th 2010 6:49AM Better Touch Tool. Makes my trackpad more useful, but also adds Aero Snap style window management.
