Engadget's recession antidote: win a DYMO LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo! (Engadget)

Nov 10th 2008 10:55AM Doesn't Vista already have image-based backups? Is there something new/better about Windows 7 image-based backups?
That took long enough: Windows 7 can burn ISO files (Download Squad)
Nov 3rd 2008 1:41PM So they finally implemented an ISO burning feature as CD/DVD media is on the decline. By the time Windows 7 is released I would think that booting off of USB/flash media would be more common.

The Bill Day giveaway (part 4) - Windows Vista Ultimate (Engadget)
Jun 27th 2008 6:34PM Windows XP is really where I started seeing impressive UI and found it easy for people to do many common tasks, right inside the OS. After SP2 (and now SP3) it's quite stable and has done so well; it's hard to be compelled to install Vista.
Who doesn't love to play with new software though? There's a reason we all visit DownloadSquad!
Win a copy of Vista Ultimate (Download Squad)
Jan 30th 2007 7:53AM I'm very curious to see how this performs versus the previous beta. I had tried using this with a 3-monitor setup using both an nVidia card and an ATI card, no luck.
The backup features also sound slick. I imagine myself getting all of my apps installed, creating an imaging and then doing whatever I can to hose it and then restore it again.
I miss my sandbox.
The great reinstall: Worth it or not? (Download Squad)
Nov 2nd 2006 3:05PM If you're not feeling the bloat of your current XP install, don't waste your time with reinstalling the OS. Also, one tool I HIGHLY recommend for moving your XP install to a new drive is Acronis True Image. Use the rescue CD and just choose the Clone Disk option. This makes life much easier and on a fast system you can have your new drive going in about 20 minutes.
