Why PvE has been, and always will be, the only real game (WoW)

Apr 20th 2008 10:24AM I think PvP sharpens your PvE skills. That is to say, it makes the game harder to fall into the "same old, same old" trap, or the "I play wow with one hand" approach.

Breakfast Topic: Alt-o-holics better at WoW? (WoW)

Apr 20th 2008 10:19AM All depends if how and why you are playing. If you're alt'ing 'cause you suck at group play, it surely isn't going to help you.

If you're alt'ing because you want to understand class mechanics, it will make you a better playing if you do it in balance.

Of course, the more common reason I see people alt leveling is because they need something that you simply cannot do with one toon. They're trying to get:
1. Bag Space (Love the bank alt entry the other day)
2. Gathering ore and herb
3. Crafting consumables for your main
4. Farming for gold to avoid 2 & 3

One more thought: I'm looking at bringing up a toon of the same class with a different spec to enable cheaper, more flexible switching to group more easily (sometimes easier to find a healer then a tank on my server)

WoW, Casually: Finding groups fast (Reader Mail) (WoW)

Apr 20th 2008 10:07AM I find that even MrT is a tough PuG right now... when you do get a group, there's sure to be some bozo (at least 1, usually 2) that ruins it for everyone. If it isn't the tank, the tank splits, knowing well that his repair bills just won't be worth it.

I can't tell you how many times I've said "Hit the green crystal!!" to watch DPS still going to the boss. This is after repeatedly explaining the first boss fight via party chat and whispers.

I think your best bet to pug anything is go with pre-70 instances where those 65-69 lvl toons are happy to have an overgeared, overpowered toon. Of course, this sucks for gear and is only useful for rep and farming shards.

Don't expect PvE to PvP transfers anytime soon (WoW)

Apr 15th 2008 10:53AM I just don't see the big deal... $25 will keep away the riff-raff from any transfer, and they could just double or triple the price if they see "abuse" of level and gank.

At the end of the day, it is to Blizzard's advantage, and the game culture in general, to let people transfer to be with friends. It keeps them engaged and involved (and paying).

10 Minute Mail - temporary email addresses (Download Squad)

Nov 27th 2006 12:11PM Use of the obvious domain is not any more of a problem then an obscure domain. You can bet that if someone's paying for email addresses and they get a bunch of temp emails, they'll demand removal of those from their bill.

If anything, better to be obvious about what you're doing, 'cause spammers spend a lot more time figuring out what's useless and refining accordingly.
