Five Burning Questions About the Food Network (AOL TV)

Apr 6th 2010 10:59AM There's no reason to rinse meat off if you're going to cook it. Unless you dropped it on the floor and you want to rinse the dirt off that is... If there are harmful bacteria in your meat, all you're doing is spreading them around in your sink.

Want to argue about Global Warming? There's an app for that (TUAW.com)

Feb 13th 2010 4:01PM Mel, must you be so condescending towards your readers? You're welcome to feel however you want about the global warming issue, but the least you could do is show a little respect to those readers who might have opinions that differ from yours. I visit TUAW to read Apple news, and I'd rather not have your political views forced upon me. If you feel the need to state your political opinion, please at least do it in a way that those who feel differently won't be offended.

Homemade Marshmallows - Feast Your Eyes (Slashfood)

Dec 11th 2009 11:02AM One of the first things I did when I got my stand mixer was make marshmallows. They taste nothing like store bought marshmallows (a good thing in my opinion). They're easy to make in a big batch, and people of all ages love them. The most common reaction is, "You can make marshmallows?!" I use Alton Brown's recipe btw.

The Next Food Network Star: Finale (season finale) - open thread (AOL TV)

Aug 3rd 2009 1:46PM I understand why they chose Melissa. Though I think she is less talented than Jeffrey, she probably appeals to a larger percentage of FN's customer base, and her concept is marketable. It's also pretty dull in my opinion. I've seen shows that address what Melissa is trying to accomplish, and the internet is flooded with recipes that do just this.

Personally, I like Jeffrey's concept and even the title, 'Ingredient Smuggler'. I don't think it was really intended to suggest that one should go to foreign countries and illegally smuggle ingredients. Can I go down to Wal-Mart and purchase harissa? Probably not. A simple amazon search turns up several options though, so it's not as if it isn't accessible. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I was looking forward to Jeffrey's show and have no interest in Melissa's. I hope FN finds a place for him!

Is Fake Steve returning, real Steve ill? (TUAW.com)

Weekly Tea Bits: Rishi, memory, gimhae & gongfu (Slashfood)

Jul 21st 2008 6:06PM I just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the tea posts. I can't get enough info about tea. Keep up the good work!

E! still wants to keep up with the Kardashians (AOL TV)

Jul 18th 2008 4:46PM I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Amy Poehler gets her own Office? (AOL TV)

Jul 16th 2008 7:28PM I don't care much for Poehler. I know that she has her share of fans, but I can't imagine how someone could tolerate her on a weekly basis. Of course I also think a spin-off is just a crappy way for NBC to cash in on a great show, so maybe Poehler is perfect!

Hey ESPN, I really hate your Wimbledon scoreboard (AOL TV)

Jun 27th 2008 4:56PM I noticed that as well. I'm not sure why they took a system that worked just fine and changed it to something that takes longer to decipher. It's like switching from Mac to Windows. Haha. In all seriousness though, I love Wimbledon and the ESPN coverage is pretty good, but that scoreboard has got to go.

Scrubs creator has harsh words for NBC (AOL TV)

May 15th 2008 12:34PM I really hate NBC.
