Microsoft set to destroy Apple in every games market (Download Squad)

Mar 7th 2010 5:06PM I am very disappointed in the quality of this article. The demonstration was that it would be easy to port a game from one platform to another. This is nice news, and certainly sharing save data between platforms will be neat, but this is no challenge to Apple.

It is not like it is difficult to make games and port them to the iPhone and PC. And i do not understand why you call Apples platform a"locked down, isolated sandbox". A developer will not have total run of a windows phone anymore then they have complete run of the xbox. The more exposed API's the greater the security risk. Apple is doing what it takes to make sure the iPhone experience is a good experiance, and Microsoft is no different.

Microsoft has their own sandbox. They have always been trying their hardest to get developers to use windows-specific API's so it will be difficult to port programs to other platforms, upholding their monopoly. DirectX is the best example of this: a game written to use directx can only be played on platforms with directx, which is windows and xbox. On the iPhone, OpenGL is the API. OpenGL is available for everything BUT xbox and probably windows mobile.

You're article is highly flawed, and i am deeply dissapointed in the shortsightedness of it.

Ask DLS: best desktop Facebook client? (Download Squad)

Feb 22nd 2010 9:08PM The facebook website is getting a bit too cluttered. I have also been mourning the loss of the abilit yot see JUST the updates, notheing else. Digsby does a decent job of this. But can't facebook just make their site better?

Password Masking: love it or leave it? (Download Squad)

Jun 27th 2009 4:13PM There is no argument for calling it an inconvenience. Masking should be done away with, as should any sort of visual indication of your password.

Unix and linux does it right: type it in, no mask, no characters, nothing. Then no one can even tell how many characters is in the password.

Learn to type your own frakking password!
