BBC offends Christian viewers with Jerry Springer (AOL TV)

Aug 29th 2005 1:30PM They certainly can turn over, but part of their argument is that viewers fund the BBC through the TV license system over here, which gives them a right to a say in what's broadcast. Unfortunately the "Christian Voice" group manage to drown out any point they may or may not have by some pretty vile tactics, including threatening to picket the locations run by a charity who were due to benefit from the performance. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-1502901,00.html

Brits develop PromiseTV (AOL TV)

Aug 8th 2005 8:31PM We have hundreds of channels available via satellite and cable. The 12 channels are those available via "freeview". Freeview is digital terrestrial broadcasting. A one off decoder box purchase lets people receive digital signals through a standard aerial. It is run by the BBC, although not all of the programming is theirs.

May 12th 2005 9:49AM This is an adaptation of a format which has been hugely popular over here in the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/ Over here it's called "Strictly Come Dancing", combining "Strictly Ballroom" (a fab australian film about ballroom dancing) and "Come Dancing" a long established (and frankly outdated) show featuring ballroom dancing competitions. It's been a big hit for the BBC on Saturday nights, with background footage being shown on the digital bbc channels through the week.
