John Lithgow returning to NBC (AOL TV)
Mar 9th 2006 11:09AM Yes. John Lithgow rocks. I wish Great Performances would show Dirty Rotten Scoundrels someday.
No upgrade for iLife (TUAW.com)
Jan 17th 2006 9:51PM What if you could upgrade the individual programs, download only, at a price like $30 each?
That way if you use more than just one program it would make more sense to buy the full version, and if you only used one, like iPhoto, you could just upgrade that one.
I think this solution would work for everyone, especially those who don't use the whole iLife suite and are poor like me.
New MiniStore in iTunes 6.0.2 (TUAW.com)
Jan 10th 2006 8:18PM Play something and watch the mini-store change! I was playing Lou Rawls songs and the mini-store showed other songs by Lou Rawls that I could buy.
There seems to be some bugginess in changing smart playlists, however. The only value I can use now for "My Ratings" is 5 stars. If I change it, it just changes back to 5 stars immediately. Very annoying.
Freeing up space (TUAW.com)
Jan 3rd 2006 11:57AM I backed up my iTMS videos from iTunes just yesterday. What I did was do a backup of all my downloads from the iTMS, including the videos, and set the disk format to "Data CD." The videos are on a CD-R now, along with the other things I've purchased from the iTMS. The disc with the videos opens in iTunes just fine, too.
Report vilifies iPod, blames Apple for holding back music industry (TUAW.com)
Dec 16th 2005 3:06PM Anyone *can* sell content for the iPod. It just has to be non-DRMed AAC or MP3 files. It's not difficult. There are sites that do it. The "big guys" just have to realize how simple the solution actually is.
Apple planning multi-OS box? (Download Squad)
Nov 10th 2005 12:53PM Mac users already know how many apps are Windows-only. If that's anyone's issue, they've defected already. The point is if you get one of these machines *it no longer matters* if the software is for Windows or Mac. You can run everything on your computer. My only hesitation would be that suddenly you can run all the spyware and viruses too.
TUAW Review: Pixadex 2.0 (TUAW.com)
Oct 26th 2005 11:53PM What I want, and I'm not sure if they did this, is the ability to have the icons stored on an external drive. Version 1 keeps the icons in a folder in the Applications Support folder of the Library. With nearly 1 gigabyte of icons on an already crowded hard drive, I'd like the ability to change this.
Pandora: web-based music service that finds your favorites (Download Squad)
Aug 23rd 2005 12:46AM Holy cow! It's like it has magical music telepathy! I think it complements rather than competes with last.fm (which I subscribe to). I'm having a blast seeing what Pandora will play next. I can't keep up with writing down the new songs and artists I'm hearing that I want to explore more.
Will Apple be pressured into raising iTunes Music Store prices? (Download Squad)
Aug 8th 2005 6:18PM No, I will not pay more per track. It's bad enough that everything has a DRM shackle on it, now they want to raise prices?! I see no reason to pay more for something that has no greater value, and if the price goes up I'll just go back to buying physical CDs that I can rip and then use wherever I choose.
