Closed Captioning not brought to you by Apple (TUAW.com)
Oct 22nd 2005 5:22AM Here's a good example of captioning in a Flash application - notice that the screen size is about the same as the video iPod. You can turn on or off the caption by clicking on the "cc" button. Go over to Macromedia site at http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/max2005/

Oct 20th 2005 1:45PM Don't assume all deaf people are stone deaf. That's a very small percentage of people with hearing losses. Some, like me, have 10% hearing left which is enough for hearing aids. Others, like my good friend, are hard-of-hearing. There are hearing aids where you can plug in auditory devices. For instance, Oticon Sumo hearing aid (http://tinyurl.com/cb5lg) has an accessory that allows you to access external audio devices. The iPod could be plugged into this accessory.

Oct 20th 2005 10:02AM In case you guys haven't missed the obvious . . . I seem to recall that the video iPod could be hooked up to the tv, which of course provides more real estate (and it sez so at http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html). And, these shows can be played via iTunes right on your laptop or G5 mac hooked up to that 20" monitor. I think that is what the user had in mind (as do I as I have a severe hearing loss). I'm planning at some point to get that video iPod so that I carry videos around with me and use the tv where I'm at to play these shows.

Aug 3rd 2005 11:00AM I'm tempted, but there's got to be a bluetooth version first. I already have two Logitech wireless mouth (long story - don't ask) and I can get along with these until then.
Apple enables Gore’s Current (TUAW.com)
Apr 5th 2005 1:11PM Actually, that was Clinton, Gore's boss. As for Gore's cable tv, pfffft. Just another platform for him to rant about how he should have been elected president. Lest stones be cast against me, I voted for Clinton twice, and for Gore. I now wish I could have taken these votes back.
