Dell's Mini 9 netbook gets unboxed on video (Engadget)

Sep 26th 2008 6:16PM "Although we anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay and have adjusted the estimated ship date as reflected below (see Revised Estimated Ship Date). We value your business and appreciate your patience"

Anyone else just get this note? Two weeks since I ordered and they just now realize it's gonna be another whole week? C'mon!

Reporter has mic stolen during iPhone interview, recovers ungracefully (Engadget)

Jul 3rd 2007 4:32AM Well, the iPhone would be a lot harder to sell, and a good broadcast mic for TV can run you 2 grand used (and they are not as likely to be traced).

iPhone data plans to surface before launch day (Engadget Mobile)

Jun 23rd 2007 1:03AM I have the "old" version of the MediaNet Works plan ($19.99 a month for unlimited data of any kind - PDA/Tethered, whatever) and would gladly sink down the $600 for a iPhone because I have been making the trasition to Mac anyway. Problem is, I just got my (piece of junk) 8525 just back in December, and now I have to wait and see how the iPhone is going to evolve for another 12-18 months before I can get one. Maybe that's better though...at least by the time I can get one it should be 3G will all the trimmings (and maybe the 3G network will BE WORKING IN LA BY THEN!?!?!?

'G.I. Joe' Moving Forward at Paramount (Cinematical)

Jun 4th 2007 4:36PM Lessie, a good GI Joe Movie, A recipie...

1 Part The Rock (Good Call, Brant)
1 Part GI Jane (Scarlett, LadyJaye, CoverGirl and Jinx need to represent!)
2 Parts Punisher (in fact give the guy a Cameo - it so works!)
1/2 Part American Ninja (for the Snake Eyes / Storm Shadow Subplot)
1/2 Part Blind Fury (To Fill out the Snake Eyes / Storm Shadow Subplot)
0 Parts Tramsformers (dumbest crossover title ever!)
1/2 Part Miami Vice (just cause Cobra Island was like a second Cuba when the popped it up - can use United Arab Emerates in a pinch)
1/2 Part Bad Boys (to make up for the bad acting in Miami Vice)
1 Part Enemy of the State (for all of the cool tech toys)

Viola!

HTC releases official update for AT&T 8525 (Engadget Mobile)

May 4th 2007 5:14AM this has got to be the worst upgrade yet. But the downside is horrible.

1) Disables the DST adjustment, and keeps sending me back to England as my home time zone, screwing up the call history and all my appointments.

2) Disabled my Voice Commander and nothing seems to be able to get it working.

3) Added stupid startup nnoise, even if you had the volume set to off when you shut down the phone.

I may just re-flash back to former ROM. Wasn't as fast for performance, but it was better than this lemon. Of course, this is my 3rd 8525, as they keep sending me "reconditioned" (read: still broken) models from the junkpile in Texas, so it just may be time to call on the warranty again and request phone #4.

HTC releases official update for AT&T 8525 (Engadget Mobile)

Apr 30th 2007 8:39PM Well, as usual, Cingular got it wrong. This upgrade has TANKED my voice commander and it will not stay started no matter what I do. Ideas anyone? HELP!

The Apple iPhone (Engadget)

Jan 9th 2007 4:19PM This is what I mean. I'm glad it's out, because now my journey to the dark side can be complete.

After seeing the quad core (and soon to be octo-core) desktop machines that are coming out for apple desktops (that can also run all of my old windows apps, and way better than they ran on the PC), I know I can safely make the move to Mac in the next few years with a clear digital conscience.

I still won't buy one for a couple years. Get the bugs hammered out; utilize customer response, and the 2.0 version will have it all down just right. I just got my 8525, and it will do just fine until I feel confident that Microsoft will bow to the Apple domination of the hardware world, and harmony will exist in the computing and information age (cue angelic light-of-heaven music)

Aliph's Bluetooth Jawbone headset sports military-grade noise cancellation (Engadget)

Dec 25th 2006 8:39PM Remember, this provides noise cancellation for the listener on the other end, but not for the user. The spring mounted ear clip creates so much force on the swivel, that it pushes the device hinge point away from the ear, and pulls the earbud away from the ear canal. I have to constantly push the earpiece back into my ear to hear anything, even with the audio turned all of the way up on my end. The noise cancellation works great for the far end, though, or I'd likely have returned it already for the down side. If anyone has a line on custom fit ear buds, please post it here, thanks!
