iPads don't make you attractive to the opposite sex (

Feb 11th 2011 11:26AM Indeed. And what's the "opposite" sex? Male and female are not opposites; gender is a manifold and fluid thing. Heteronormative, heterosexist privilege always seems to win out, doesn't it?

Happy 10th Birthday, iTunes! (

Jan 9th 2011 2:39PM Just FYI, you CAN disable Ping now. 10.1 added a checkbox which lets you hide it completely. As for the way it looks…well. I happen to like it. It's subtle and minimalist, but that's just my opinion. It really doesn't matter if we like it or not, because by the time we get used to it, iTunes 11 will be out with a whole new look which will cause even more controversy and cries of "OMG it's HIDEOUS!" :D

I think splitting the video from the main app makes sense. Photos are stored in iPhoto, for example, and iTunes sees your iPhoto library automagically and allows you to sync photos. A separate app for video (iVideo or whatever) could work the same way. Maybe tie it into the Quicktime player?

But what I'd love most of all is for Apple to re-write the app so that people with large libraries (above 25k tracks) could use the app and not see that accursed technocolour beach ball after every attempt to do something. I'd hoped they would do something like that with iTunes 10, but no. *sigh*

Tweetie for Mac has a MacHeist secret (

Jan 7th 2011 11:15AM In fact, if you click on the RT button it gives you two options - retweet or quote tweet. Now I'm really confused by your comment. Did you actually use the app before you commented?

Jan 7th 2011 11:14AM I'm not sure what you mean by "real" RT function. It clearly supports the new style RTs, as well as allowing for copy and paste RTs. Is there some other way to do RTs?

Jan 7th 2011 2:32AM Holy cats, this is pretty awesome news! The "Type anywhere" option in particular turns Twitter for Mac into the first standalone app I consider a viable replacement for the (old Twitter) web UI. It's such a no-brainer feature that I can't understand why no-one else ever thought of it, and why it's not enabled (or at least accessible) by default. Now I don't have to quit Twitter when they finally force that design nightmare that is the new Twitter web UI on everyone!

Retaining your masculinity while carrying the iPad (

Dec 16th 2010 7:30PM So…um…what, pray, is so awful about being female and/or feminine?

People need to grow the hell up and get over all this gendered behaviour nonsene.

Nov 30th 2010 7:28AM @Kevin — Well, yes, actually, HTML5 *CAN* compete at the same level as Flash, and without requiring an outdated, processor-intensive (and proprietary) software architecture.
