Oct 16th 2008 3:06PM The CherryPalCloud™ Innovation

CherryPal has removed the hassle from personal
computing by moving most of the software and data that
traditionally sits on the desktop to the Internet. Instead of
accessing programs and data from your desktop
computer, the majority of information is processed and
stored on the web in a highly secure environment called
the CherryPalCloud™, which is automatically accessed
at boot-up. The CherryPalCloud removes many of the
headaches typically associated with traditional personal
computers, including:

• application downloads, software upgrades and
crashing operating systems, because everything is
maintained in the CherryPalCloud by CherryPal
administrators

• viruses and hackers, because the user’s hardware
is no longer exposed to local bugs and viruses

• lag time, because the majority of cumbersome
software applications are stored in the CherryPalCloud,
the computer operates just as fast – if not faster – than a
traditional PC.

Xbox 360 now cheapest console in the US -- game on Santa (Engadget)

Sep 5th 2008 8:51AM But if we only had one company do you think we would have as much innovation as he have had in the past 4 years for game consoles?
Without Microsoft pushing Sony the PS3 would not be what it is today. It would just have be a beefed-up PS2. (Then it may have been more backward compatible.)
Without the Wii, the motion controllers for XBOX and PS3 would just be a pipe dream for some up-and-coming 18 year old who can't get into the door.

We would also still be paying $300 to $400 for a console.

I think it good to have competition, it keep things progressing forward.

Jun 19th 2008 4:58PM The SageTV address the encrypted signals by pulling the video from the Comcast boxes via component ad recompressing the signals to unencrypted HDTV for recording via SageTV. This is what the HD-PVR box does. You still have to rent the boxes from your cable company but you are not limited as with CableCARDs, you get all the same features of the cable company’s box without record blocks and encrypted recording for portable devices.
