May 11th 2011 11:59PM It may not be fast on 3G, but Wifi is plenty fast and the offline mode works well. Just use "favorites" command to add a book to your offline list. Once it is locally buffered you can even read it on a plane.

The actual proposal was to ban such vehicles in large urban areas, not "ban gas and diesel cars from Europe".

The Autoblog post makes it sound like this was a complete ban. Other sites are a little more specific.

Using electricity to power vehicles makes it simpler to transition to renewable source such as wind, solar, tidal, etc as those technologies mature.

In the mean time, even when electricity is coal generated, the CO2 output is less for an electric vehicle than for an ICE due to very large differences in efficiency.
