Parent Vs Parent: Raising children with religion (ParentDish)
Apr 6th 2007 1:46PM If faith isn't blindly following, then what about this statement:
"I can't help but believe that, after seeing them grow, there's nothing that can deny my belief in God."
If there's nothing that can puncture your belief, then it's not rational and subject to revisitation. That makes it blind dogma, no matter what you say to the contrary.
Which isn't to say that you can't doubt and be a believer. To the contrary. Even the greatest saints of all religious traditions experienced doubts. Even Christ screamed out on the cross, "Father, why have you forsaken me?"
Doubt is good. Doubt either strengthens faith, or it leads one away from faith to a more secular philosophy. Either way, you end up a better person for it in the end.

Spoken like a true geek. :)

Feb 26th 2007 12:51AM "I love Lost In Translation, although credit for this movie's greatness lies mainly in its phenomenal cast. The rest of it I would assign to the madly unique and alienating wonder of Tokyo, itself."
What crap. Lost in Translation doesn't show you Tokyo; it shows you Sofia Coppola's Tokyo - the very limited subset of Tokyo she found important to her story. If you loved Tokyo in the movie, then you loved her direction. Given credit where credit is due.
TV networks vs. Google's YouTube? (BloggingStocks)
Feb 8th 2007 2:47PM "Are all American video content consumers going to move over to their PC screens to watch tiny videos in a window instead of that nice, big television screen with stereo sound?"
Um, Brian? That's what iTV, Sling, and Windows XP Media Center Edition are for...

Unless God is really Allah. Then you're fucked for the rest of eternity!
If there is a God, I suspect that He values intelligence and reasoning above blind belief. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit. (Matthew 15:14)
Your Doctor's diet: Weight loss secrets of nutrition professionals (That's Fit)
Jan 22nd 2007 11:55AM It's good to see medical professionals acknowledging what many of us have known for years: excess sugar and carbs slow you down, and tank your nutritional program. It's a far cry from the days of Pritikin.

That's too funny.
I submitted an essay to some online magazine recently and was told that "it's great, but reads more like a blog post than an essay." Um, yeah...hello?
This is what the Internet has done to me: I no longer know how to communicate like a "normal" person. Ah well.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Handbanana (AOL TV)
Oct 30th 2006 1:53AM I wrote this up tonight. I think you're being too charitable, Jonathon. Handbanana was cool, but the episode itself was lame. The joke was repetitive, and the episode didn't flow. Disappointing.
The four things you should do to lose weight (That's Fit)
