Is Good Fan Art a Myth? (Cinematical)
Mar 10th 2010 4:04PM I made a pretty substantial piece of fan art. Me and the gang spent all of last summer filming a one hour musical movie that was nothing more than a piece of fan art for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog.
As far as 'why'...To me, making a movie was the best film school to learn how to make movies. We went through all of the Hollywood process...writing, casting, auditions, catering, makeup, scoring, editing, shooting, greenscreens, marketing, everything - with subject matter that we couldn't sell. So it was fan art.
Best/worst - I don't want to say the worst but I have seen it. As far as the best...I thought The Hunt for Gollum was pretty badass. Whoever drew the cast of Seinfeld in Star Wars poses was killer. But my favorite would have to be the Star Wars characters as a rock band. Oh that and my movie ;) http://horribleturn.com
The Vatican Condemns 'The Golden Compass' (Cinematical)
Dec 19th 2007 3:51PM I disagree with how the Catholic church perceives Christianity. But on this lone score I am down with them. Golden Compass deserves all of the crap it is getting.
Bionic Woman: Second Chances (series premiere) (AOL TV)
Sep 27th 2007 12:50AM Damnit. I liked it . My wife and I both liked it and there are not a lot of action shows that we can say that about. I always swear I won't read critics because they all suck. They're well, too critical. But count me as "hooked" in your poll. Loved the fighting, the emotion, the show in general.

Virb - MySpace done right, and we have 100 invites to give away! (Download Squad)
Mar 19th 2007 5:08PM The previous post is perfect...a one stop shop for all of my social networks.
In addition I would love to have a site in which all of the modules or components were ajaz based so I could move them around, minimize them, do what I want with them at my leisure.
Love an invite...
How to pwn PDF password protection (Download Squad)
Jan 29th 2007 1:02PM I have a reason why this would be useful...my company (CBS) in an effort to prove how environmentally friendly we profess to be, has chosen a paperless paystub route. The only way to get a copy of any financial documents is to download (after thrice going through username/password gauntlets)a protected pdf. So I was buying a house a couple years ago and I had to access all of my old paystubs to turn in to the mortgage company. I could not find a soul that knew how to access those pdf's from home so I found a way around it similar to what is in this blog.
Rachel McAdams is Pepper Potts? (Cinematical)
Dec 5th 2006 2:40PM My thoughts? Rachel McAdams could be in any role...I mean ANY ROLE...and the movie would be worth seeing. She could've been the freaking Machinist and she would've been hot.
Toshiba's upcoming W41T "MUSIC-HDD" (Engadget)
Jan 17th 2006 11:02AM Funny, when I read W41T I immediately thought of the leetspeak crap for 'Wait'. Of course I could be going conspiracy theory...
Mystery or Medicority? Waxing Hysterical (Cinematical)
Aug 8th 2005 6:15PM I would like to throw up an idea as to why the box office is “slumping”. It boils down to this: our over-stimulated public is too restless en masse to tolerate the return on time and money invested in a trip to the movies. We are over-stimulated with news about our stars. We are overloaded with celebrities. We have the internet. Let’s face it, we spend an assload of time plopped down in front of the computer. The compound effect of this is we now have less time to do other crap. And with the deluge of over-marketed, under-delivered rubbish we have chosen to spend our cash elsewhere. The movies that totally succeed are the ones where there is no risk of wasting money. Spiderman, X-Men, War of the Worlds, Wedding Crashers, etc. 10 years ago Stealth would have done well based on the SFX alone. But now we’ve seen all of that. Been there done that, I’m no longer impressed. Ditto for The Island. Also think of how many movies are out there. All of the Indie movies that 15 years ago simply were not around. A small Indie House is totally pumped about a “flop” that only draws $20 million bones. But that’s $20 million that’s not going to the major releases. When I grew up in the eighties it was all I could do to keep up with the Brat Pack, the pop bands that were around at the time, the older generations actors that were still “hot” (Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman, etc), and the authentic newsmakers (Geraldine Ferraro, the “where’s the beef” old lady.) Now, people are trying to keep up with everyone that we had plus the celebrities that are celebrities because they are celebrities and for no other reason (Reality stars, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, etc.), and they are at the point of sensory overload. I know I am. And I’m a pop junkie. Chance W in ’08
