An open source internet stupidity filter (Download Squad)
Oct 11th 2007 2:15AM Great stuff! It will take a lot of tweaking just like any spam filter. I thought it would be a good idea for Youtube to ask for your credit card (without charging it) in order to give you access to a non teenage section, hopefully with far less leetspeak and all that goes with it.
A fresh set of 2.0.10 patch notes (WoW)
Mar 6th 2007 4:50AM The critical damage bonus on "Predatory Instincts" reduced from 3/6/9/12/15% to 2/4/6/8/10%
that's the worst thing about the druid nerf in this patch... it affects Cat and there really is no reason for this. I think i might be able to live with the rest though.
A realistic look at druid tanking (WoW)
Feb 27th 2007 7:50AM "Sorry, a Rogue vs Warrior duel will always be chosen by the guy who can easily loose half of his HP and still have more than I ever had."
"Same goes for Bear Druids.. except that they can Stun me, Cyclone me, heal themselves and finish me off."
so sorry, i guess druids and warriors really shouldn't have any abilities at all! After all, it's not fair that you should play to your characters strengths rather than expect to spam kill.
come on! yes, you'll get hit by 'crit luck'and if you wear cloth or leather that's the risk you take. ITS YOUR CHARACTER.
Soloing in World of Warcraft (WoW)
Oct 27th 2006 8:44AM i think a strong high level solo element to the game will only strengthen the raiding experience. Raiding can become a touch dry once you've run the same instance over and over - the story fades away. True the multiplayer aspect is brought to the fore but it does so at the expense of the story. A strong, solo based, storyline that weaves in and out of the raid storyline would really help keep the raid story alive.
Microsoft blames Apple's "quality checks" for iPod virus (Engadget)
Oct 19th 2006 1:17PM well... i guess dear old arrogant Apple are finally learning what it's like to be the dominant player. It was never your amazing virus proof software that protected you... it was your relative insignificance in the market.
How to dual-boot XP on an Intel Mac (in theory) (Engadget)
Jan 31st 2006 5:00AM I hope you all realise that all this Mac vs PC rubbish is in the minds of a tiny percentage of computer users? Really.. do you all think that EITHER platform is greatly more productive then the other?? come on... get a life. Yes Macs ARE about aesthetics. it's obvious. That doesn't make them bad machines though. yes, WinXP has a huge amount of software running on it. It's just not as pretty.. and in SOME case not as useable. It does NOT mean it's crap & backwards. Before you get your sharpened USB sticks out, I use both platform and can tell you they are both equally productive machines and OS’s.
As for running both OSX and WinXP on the same platform… why the hell not????? It’s in your interest to get the most flexibility out of your hardware if you need to.
