ByD:sign / EyeFi unveils antiquated 42-inch plasma (Engadget)

Dec 29th 2006 5:09AM I'm sure Panasonic is proud of these guys for upholding the honor of plasma displays. I bet they also make great VCRs.

Google enables POP checking for some Gmail users (Download Squad)

Dec 9th 2006 3:16PM I guess it's not enough that they offer FREE pop access to your email accounts nor do they append advertisements at the end of your messages. Both of these practices, by the way, do nothing to increase visits to their website. I don't think they're are as motivated by increased site visits as you're suggesting.

IBM buys wireless software firm Vallent Corp. (Download Squad)

Nov 29th 2006 9:52AM What does this have to do with Download Squad? It doesn't sound like Vallent makes a consumer-level product, but instead is associated with lots of companies that we might have heard about and that this business deal won't be translating into anything, if at all, for us readers for quite a while.

Engadget's relaunch giveaways: Xbox 360 Premium pack number three (Engadget)

Engadget HD giveaways: win another Philips 42PF9631D 42-inch plasma! (Engadget HD)

Oct 11th 2006 9:31PM I don't have a cable card but my set-top box has a slot for one, and I've read about these things for a while now. I've gotten the impression that they're deploying too slowly to continue being relevant for the mainstream.

Stupidly simple games degree exam paper is very real (Joystiq)

Jun 25th 2006 11:41AM Learning the history of videogames is just like learning about the history of art, music and the world in other BA and BS disciplines. These courses are not just presenting timelines of which games and systems came before others, they describe what the significant events and products are in the history of these games and how it affects the industry.

This one example may seem silly, but I'm pretty sure that the course as a whole could probably teach even the most hard-core game player at least a few things that make him or her a better game designer.

Samsung's BD-P1000 goes on pre-order (Engadget)

May 29th 2006 2:06PM $599 for the PS3, not 699.

There will be plenty of pricing choices by this time next year; it's premature to debate anything significantly until the consumers are given a proper chance to adopt this technology.

These are only the first models of what will soon be dozens, and eventually hundreds. It won't be until these things start appearing at Wal-Mart and Target that we'll be able to debate the actual merits of the formats. Right now, we can only make predictions and express our opinions.

OMG You Guys! Brad and Angie Totally Had Their Baby! (Cinematical)

May 28th 2006 9:51AM I think she wanted to have the kid in Namibia specifically to have her be a Namibian citizen, jm. When you're rich like that, "American" conveniences don't matter a whole lot. You can take your "freedom" with you everywhere you go.
