Microsoft offers stability update for Internet Explorer 9 Beta (Download Squad)

Nov 24th 2010 1:52PM Ironically, the only time I've had IE9 crash on me so far was about 5 minutes after applying this "stability patch".

Win a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad from TUAW (TUAW.com)

May 3rd 2010 8:55PM Spent the weekend using one and fell in love with it. Would gladly trade my netbook for one!

Engadget HD giveaway: win a 3x1 HDMI switch and HDMI cables! (Engadget HD)

Apr 30th 2009 10:28AM File a class-action lawsuit against Monster for price gouging on their HDMI cables. Use the proceeds of the lawsuit to pay off the national debt. Then distribute what's left over to US citizens in the form of a tax rebate. Bob's your uncle.

Fresh install of XP, now what? (Download Squad)

Jan 27th 2009 2:29PM Just off the top of my head...

1. Google Chrome
2. iTunes
3. Picasa

Many others, but that takes care of browsing, music, and photos.

Adam's Favorite Windows Apps: Trillian (Download Squad)

Oct 16th 2008 3:51PM Yeah, gotta agree with other comments on this. I usually take DownloadSquad's word as scripture, but Trillian is way overbloated and generally just makes a mess of what should be a very simple app. Trillian used to be my IM app of choice, and I actually paid the $25/yr because it used to be worth it. But I finally ditched it over a year ago. Pidgin is my IM app of choice now. Gets everything right, does it very simply, it's free, and portable. Can't go wrong.

CNN adds live debate feedback for widescreen HD viewers (Engadget HD)

Oct 3rd 2008 9:34AM Maybe I tuned in too late, but when I flipped to CNN, I didn't know what was even going on. Not knowing what the charts and graphs were for, I found them annoying and switched to an OTA HD broadcast of the debate on another channel. Maybe had I known what they were for, it would have been more interesting to watch.

Reason #2,782 for disliking Wal-Mart: They won't sell you a Wii [update] (Joystiq Nintendo)

Apr 29th 2008 2:52PM My wife and I each bought one at the same time at Best Buy. The man in charge of dispensing the tickets for the Wii's didn't care one bit.

Google offers a peek at Google Health (Download Squad)

Feb 28th 2008 5:58PM Would be really interested in checking this out. I'm scheduled for a kidney donation (giving to my sister) at the Cleveland Clinic this summer, so I'm assuming I'd have access. Any idea how I go about signing up or logging in?

The hundred gadget giveaway, grand prize round: Nikon D40 DSLR (Engadget)

Sep 14th 2007 3:49PM I've got one DSLR, but could always use another!!

Penumbra: Overture makes its creepy debut (Joystiq)

Apr 3rd 2007 11:23AM I don't think $20 for a 3hr horror experience is all that bad. Go pick up "Saw III" on dvd and you're paying about $15 for a 2hr horror experience that you just WATCH. For $5 more, you get this horror experience that you "actually experience" by playing through it.
